Michael Patrick Leahy: Michael Patrick Leahy 6:06 a.m.; we’re broadcasting live from our studios on music row in Nashville, Tennessee. It is Wednesday, October 18th, 2023.

We’ll be joined at 6:30 a.m. by Crom Carmichael and Carol Swain at 6:15 a.m. by Steve Cortez.

But now I am delighted to welcome to our microphones, our very good friend for many years, the founder and the head of the Tennessee Eagle Forum, Mrs. Bobbie Patray.

Good morning, Bobbie. How are you?

Bobbie Patray: Well, good morning, my friend.

Michael Patrick Leahy: It’s been a while. Listen, I am so glad to have you on our Newsmaker line this morning, Bobbie, because we need some, we need some good news.

Bobbie Patray: Well, I have some wonderful news, and I want everybody to know that they have until noon today to sign up for our 2023 On Eagles Wings event, which is this coming Saturday.

With 12 incredible speakers starting at 9:00 a.m. and going through the banquet that night and All of our speakers are really, really good.

But with what’s going on in the world today, a couple of our speakers are just pure gold in terms of of what they have to offer Mark Morgan who is a former chief of the U.S. Border Patrol and a 20 year career in the FBI is going to be speaking to us on why it matters, the worst border security crisis in our lifetime.

Can you imagine anything, any more important than that right now?

And Dakota Wood, who is an expert in all things like our relationships with our other nations and what’s going on around the world, he’s going to be our kickoff speaker after our devotion Saturday morning; and we’re going to have a Mary Trapnell, who is local, who works to combat sex trafficking and all that sort of thing, and has a wonderful program to help people give them hope and what their future is going to be like.

We’ve got Carla Sands, a former ambassador for President Trump and she represented our country in Denmark, and she’s going to be talking to us about the so-called Biden economy – is there one?

So, we really have a whole lot to offer people that want to come. We’ve been doing this for a number of years now, and the people that we offer to be heard are really just outstanding in their fields and are going to bring some really wonderful messages to the people who attend this coming Saturday.

Michael Patrick Leahy: And if you want tickets, go to tneagleforumfoundation.org

And Bobbie – but wait, there’s more, there’s more.

Our good friend Francis Arthur will be there with “Tennessee Student Eagles Soar at Home and on the Road.”

Bobbie Patray: I would tell you, she is doing an incredible job with our student Eagles. That organization is growing. One of the things that she does with them is that they have a day when the legislators in session that they come and shadow a legislator.

But it isn’t just come and see. In order to do that, they have to read all the bills that the legislator has filed. They have to know what committees that legislator is in. So when they get down there, they are very well-informed about that part of it. And then they learn how the system works.

In fact, this year, after several of our student leaguers were down there, a number of the legislators that the students had shadowed told me how much they enjoyed having those children with them. But they’re not children, I shouldn’t say that, should I? Young people.

Michael Patrick Leahy: Young people. Yes.

But also, Bobbie, and this is right up my alley: Paul Summers, former Tennessee Attorney General and a judge – he’s going to talk about this proposal, Keep Nine, to amend the U. S. Constitution to put that number nine on the court so no Court packing.

I think that’s a great topic.

Bobbie Patray: Well, it really is a good topic. And Paul and I have been friends since he was an AG and I was so glad to find out that he was involved in this because most people don’t know that that’s not in the Constitution anywhere. We’ve just taken it for granted.

‘Oh, they’re nine members,’ – but we want to make that not be able to be changed or anything like that. And I was so delighted when I found out he was involved with that. And he was one of the first people that I asked to be one of our speakers on Saturday.

Michael Patrick Leahy: The event is this Saturday. It’s gonna be at the Embassy Suites. Cool Springs.

And if you want to get tickets – and you really should – this is going be really a great event: tneagleforumfoundation.org. And of course, The very best reason to go there is you get to see and meet and talk with Bobbie Patray, our good friend.

Bobbie Patray: Oh, you’re so kind.

Another issue that we’re covering is from the AG’s office, what’s going on with fentanyl. A lot of people don’t know here in Tennessee what an awful situation we have here. And a lot of parents don’t know anything about what their children are being exposed to. And so that’s another reason to go and to be here and learn all about that.

And Representative Chris Todd is going to be one of our speakers and he’s going to tell us What he thinks happened at the special session and forecast what he thinks might come up in the 2024 session. So those are, those are all good reasons. And Dr. Joy Riley is going to be talking to us. The World Health Organization thinks it’s going to take over our health, and do everything for us.

And so she’s going to be talking about what they’re trying to do to us. So I’m telling you, we, we have. Something really wonderful to offer people and I sure hope that they will take advantage of it

Michael Patrick Leahy: Bobbie Patray with the Tennessee Eagle Forum. Get tickets at tneagleforumfoundation.org for the great event this Saturday at the Embassy Suites in Cool Springs.

Bobbie, thanks so much for joining us.

Bobbie Patray: Thank you very much for having me. I really enjoyed my day.

Michael Patrick Leahy: Alright, Bobbie Patray.

When we come back, if all goes well, Steve Cortez will talk about, do you want Gaza refugees here in Tennessee? I think the answer is no.

Back after this.
