U.S. Senate candidate Bill Hagerty on Wednesday commented on the U.S. Supreme Court of the United States’ rulings for religious freedom.
Hagerty said this in a press release that he posted on his campaign’s website.
“Today’s rulings are major victories for our religious freedom, and I applaud the Supreme Court for making the right decisions today,” Hagerty said in the press release.
“As a pro-life Christian conservative, I proudly stand with religious groups like the Little Sisters of the Poor and President Trump, who worked to repeal this burdensome government mandate. No one should be forced to go against their values to follow an unconstitutional directive. If Joe Biden and the Democrats were to regain control, they would confirm justices who will get it wrong every time. We must re-elect President Trump this fall. In the Senate, I’ll work with him to protect our religious freedoms and confirm constitutionalist judges who won’t legislate from the bench.”
As The Tennessee Star reported last month, Hagerty released a statement after Chief Justice John Roberts joined the liberal justices in overturning Louisiana’s law “requiring doctors who perform abortions to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals:”
“John Roberts got it wrong again. Instead of protecting the unborn and ensuring the safety of women, yet again it appears that Chief Justice Roberts made a politically-calculated decision and sided with the liberals,” Hagerty said.
Also, as The Star reported, Hagerty weighed in after the United States Supreme Court ruled to uphold former president Barack Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.
“The Supreme Court’s decision to prevent the Trump Administration from dismantling DACA, an immigration policy created via Executive Order by the Obama Administration, is appalling and another reminder as to why we need to confirm more constitutionalist judges to the federal bench,” Hagerty said.
