Bill Lee and Diane Black Featured Speakers at Williamson County GOP BBQ

Gubernatorial candidates Bill Lee and Rep. Diane Black (R-TN-06), along with Congressional candidate State Senator Mark Green (R-Clarksville), were the featured speakers at the annual Williamson County GOP Fish Fry and Barbecue on Saturday.

Two other candidates for in the August 2 Republican gubernatorial primary, Knoxville businessman Randy Boyd and Tennessee Speaker of the House Beth Harwell (R-Nashville), did not attend the event.

Lee, a Williamson County native, resident, and business owner, was the only GOP gubernatorial candidate still in the race who attended last year’s Williamson County BBQ.

Earlier in the day Black attended a speech by Vice President Mike Pence at Lee University in Cleveland, where she, along with Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN-07), was the recipient of high praise by Pence.

Blackburn, who represents part of Williamson County in Congress, is the presumptive Republican nominee in the race to succeed retiring Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN) in the U.S. Senate. She will face the Democrat nominee, former Gov. Phil Bredesen, in the November general election.

State Senator Green does not currently represent Williamson County in the Tennessee State Senate, but he is running for the 7th Congressional District seat Blackburn is vacating to run for the U.S. Senate.

For the second year in a row, the annual Williamson County GOP event was hosted by Meg and Bob Beck at their beautiful home in Thompsons Station, Little Creek Farms

OK my fellow conservatives, as we enter the last week of early voting we continue to have the opportunity to wait, advocate, and unify as we pursue the ANYBODY BUT BOYD strategy which should be our top priority in this race. WAIT until election day to vote. ADVOCATE for our favorite candidate up to election day. UNIFY on election day behind whichever candidate has the best chance of defeating Randy! Boyd.

The very worst news for the centrist establishment will occur if they see before their disbelieving eyes the ability of conservatives to unify behind one candidate despite the establishment’s ability to deprive us of runoffs. I intend to continue to advocate for the nomination of Diane Black, however, before voting on August 2nd I will seek out the latest, most reliable polls and whichever candidate has the most support not named Randy! Boyd will get my vote.

    1. Then your vote will be for Black.
