In a specific call on Tuesday’s Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. – Leahy was joined in studio by all-star panelist and Tennessee state Senator Kerry Roberts (R-Springfield).
During the third hour, favorite listener and caller Bernadette broke down her interpretation of black baby boomer and millennial voters in the upcoming election. She explained that she’d given up on the baby boomers because they are still stuck in their mental enslavement and need a white man to fix their problems. However, she was excited to see black millennials, particularly males, who sided with Trump based on his progress with the black employment surge.
Leahy: In-studio with us. Kerry, we were talking a little bit about the Tennessee primary and the Democrats and President Trump. We have a caller. A good friend of ours, Bernadette wants to weigh in on this. Hey Bernadette, good morning.
Roberts: Good morning.
Caller Bernadette: Good morning you guys. How y’all doing this morning?
Leahy: We are just delighted to hear from you because we know every time Bernadette calls it’s going to be a powerhouse call. (Bernadette giggles)
Bernadette: Oh my gosh. OK. So, I’m so over talking to black baby boomers. (Leahy laughs) I’m over it. They are so stuck in their ways. I don’t even want to talk to them anymore. So I’ve been focusing on all millennials. Especially these young black boys. They are really coming around. They are surprising me. They are really coming around to President Trump’s side.
And they’re coming off this Democratic plantation. I am so proud of them. I was just really shocked by the amount of how they were saying things that they can’t believe they’re still bashing this president after all these years. They talk about black unemployment. They talk about how they are not having a problem finding a job.
They are not falling for this nonsense that the baby boomers are falling for mindset. They are not falling for that. I am so proud of them. I’m ready to start early voting tomorrow. Oh my gosh. I’m going to be surrounded by a bunch of black baby boomers. Oh my gosh. Can one of y’all send me a case of Calgon so Calgon can take me away. (Leahy and Roberts laugh)
Leahy: Bernadette! So here in Tennessee, of course, we have the Democratic primary for president as well as the Republican primary for Tennessee which of course President Trump is going to win 99.99%. But on the Democratic side, you’ve got Michael Bloomberg spending an awful lot of money. Then you also have Pete Buttigieg, the former Mayor of South Bend, Indiana. Joe Biden. Elizabeth Warren.
Kind of an interesting crowd there. Bernie Sanders from Vermont. Let me ask you this Bernadette. I want to start with millennials in the black community and then go to baby boomers within the black community. When they look at the Democratic field versus President Trump, what’s the analysis that you see? Are there any Democratic contenders doing better than others here in Tennessee? What’s your take on that?
Bernadette: As far as the millennials, no. They don’t trust the Democrats because all they hear is that socialism stuff that they are not falling for. The millennials are not listening to Bernie Sanders and Biden and Buttigieg and the rest of them. They are listening more to Trump’s message because it’s about jobs. They knew how it was from 2008-2016 when it was so hard for black people to get jobs.
Because they see that difference. That’s the number one thing, jobs, that’s bringing them to Trump’s side. But the baby boomers, they are all stuck on evil white rich men. Keeping us down and oppressing us. Not oppressing us, O-pressing us. When we mean it, we put an emphasis on it. O-pressing, police. So you’re all O-pressing us way too much. They are all still stuck. And I’m done with stuck.
Roberts: So Bernadette, are you familiar with the Hodge Twins?
Bernadette: No, I’m not sir.
Roberts: The Hodge Twins are black twin brothers. They did a lot of comedy related to weight lifting and gains and stuff like that. So they got into political commentary. And they’re just big on social media. So they use the Instagram platform to kind of spread their base.
They’ve got a big YouTube channel. And I’ve wondered how much influence they’ve had with young black men. They are just absolutely hilarious. And the Hodge Twins, you have to look them up.
Leahy: Sounds great. Hey, Bernadette, let me ask you this. I’m interested, March 3rd we have the Democratic primary on Super Tuesday. By the way, come on down, we’ll be broadcasting live from Jason Aldean’s Kitchen on Broadway. Come on down and say hello and get a picture and talk to us in person.
My question for you is, among baby boomers that you talked to in the black community, how do they look at Bloomberg, Sanders, Warren, and Buttigieg? I’m hearing reports that Pete Buttigieg has virtually no support in the black community. Is that what you’re finding?
Bernadette: Yes, sir. Buttigieg will never get the support of black people. Black people known it for years since he’s done nothing for them in Ft. Wayne. So he will not get it. Biden will not get it. He’s too busy trying to placate and pacify black people and it’s insulting to me. Sanders has a shot because the baby boomers are all about enslavement, government controlling every aspect of our lives.
And if any of those candidates they will listen it will probably be that evil rich white man Bernie Sanders. But we’ll cry racism in a minute. But we’re the ones picking the evil white man Sanders to vote for. So a lot of them will follow Sanders more than any of the others.
Typically because it runs along that narrative that the government got to control our lives. White people for us because we’re so dumb, retarded, and slow as black people. And we can’t do anything for ourselves. So yes, they fall for Bernie. But the millennials are about President Trump in my experience.
Leahy: How about two other candidates within the black community. What is the perception of Michael Bloomberg and Elizabeth Warren?
Bernadette: Michael Bloomberg is considered racist. Oh my gosh. And Elizabeth Warren, she’s not even on her radar. They don’t even mention her name. They don’t mention Bloomberg. The only reason they mention Sanders is because he’s been in the news a lot more than anyone else. But black people don’t really pay any attention to all this stuff. Not the baby boomers.
The millennials are a little more engaged, and again they’re falling for Trump. Some of them are falling for Bernie too, but if we talk to them enough we can sway them from getting on Bernie’s side. I think they are listening more to Bernie than President Trump. And you know, that’s fine. He’s going to stomp whoever his opponent is. He’s going to stomp them in the ground whoever it is anyway.
