A memorial service was held Monday at Belmont University to honor alumnus Kyle Yorlets, a musician who was shot and killed during a robbery allegedly committed by five youths, one of them as young as 12.
Yorlets, 24, allegedly was shot on Thursday, Feb. 7 by two boys and three girls after he refused to give them the keys to his car, NewsChannel 5 said.
Yorlets was in the band Carverton. They posted a tribute on Twitter that said in part, “On February 7, 2019 we lost our brother, best friend, and bandmate Kyle Yorlets. We are in a state of shock and are having to grasp the reality that is now in front of us. We are heartbroken. Our condolences for his family and loved ones and all the lives that he touched. We will never forget Kyle, and though he is gone too soon his legacy is here to stay.”

At the memorial service, people remembered Yorlets as someone full of wit and talent and who cared about people, Billboard said. The publication also reported:
Michael Wiebell is the bassist for Yorlets’ band, Carverton. He said in an interview before the memorial that since Yorlets’ death, they have heard from a number of people who were helped by him.
“One fan of ours had a problem with self-harm. Kyle would message her throughout the year. She posted that she was one-year free, and he was just gushing,” Wiebell said.
Metro Nashville Police Department identified three of the suspects, but said that under Tennessee law, youths who are age 13 and under may not be identified (two suspects are 13 and 12). The shooting happened Thursday afternoon outside Yorlet’s house in the 3200 block of Torbett Street.

The three are Roniyah McKnight, 14, of Clifton Avenue, Diamond Lewis, 15, of Dinwiddie Drive, and Decorrius Wright, 16, of Decatur Street. Also charged are a 12-year-old girl and a 13-year-old boy.
The investigation shows that the five were in a stolen Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck in the alley that runs behind Yorlets’ home when they spotted him outside. The juveniles interacted with Yorlets, took his wallet, and ultimately demanded that he surrender the keys to his vehicle. It is believed that he was fatally shot after he refused.
By early Thursday evening, the stolen pickup truck was recovered on Timberland Drive in the Hermitage Precinct. Concerted and coordinated work by the Juvenile Crime Task Force, Youth Services detectives and North Precinct detectives led to information that the teens had traveled to the West Nashville Wal-Mart on Charlotte Pike. Officers went there and apprehended all five. A loaded nine millimeter pistol, which had been reported stolen, was recovered from them. A second loaded and stolen pistol was recovered from inside the store. The vehicle in which they traveled to the Wal-Mart, a Hyundai Santa Fe stolen from Brentwood, was also recovered.

This tragedy is one of the results of the social engineering experiment of welfare and affirmative action instituted by leftists and liberals and accepted by conservatives and others with no political affiliation. These programs produce ignorant, feral children with no moral compass or stable family relationships.
