Live from Music Row Friday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. – host Leahy welcomed original all-star panelist Crom Carmichael to the studio for another edition of Crom’s Crommentary.
CROM CARMICHAEL:
Michael on Monday, Durham goes to the court and he will be trying to convict Michael Sussmann, who’s a big-time lawyer, high powered lawyer with Perkins Coie out of Washington, D.C. One of the most powerful law firms, or used to be one of the most powerful law firms in Washington, DC.
And here’s what Kim Strassel has written, a very fascinating article about her analysis of this. And there are some people who believe that Durham ought to be casting a much wider net.
And Kimberly Strassel says that Durham’s attack and his strategy are exactly the right ones because what he’s doing is he’s bringing an extremely narrow case against Michael Sussmann because it is a criminal offense to lie to the FBI.
And he has that case just tied down. Durham got it just tied as the drum because he has emails or texts from Sussmann to the general counsel of the FBI saying, I’m coming as a private citizen, I am not coming to represent a client.
But here’s what’s interesting about this article. It said, here are the other people who are now being essentially destroyed. As I said, Perkins Coie as a law firm is now a very suspicious law firm for anybody to use. Their great reputation has been destroyed.
Marc Elias was their super lawyer. He’d been there for 28 years. He’s no longer with Perkins Coie. He’s now opened his own little law firm. Christopher Steele, the author of the infamous document, is now just a joke.
If late-night comics needed somebody to pick on, Christopher Steele would be a great one. Fusion GPS was one of the great background check companies out of Washington, D.C. Now nobody will touch them. So Fusion GPS can’t find any clients.
Mrs. Clinton won’t be in the courtroom. The quote says is the evidence about the Clinton campaign, including campaign manager Robby Mook, will be presented at trial. And it’ll have emails. It’ll have texts.
It’ll have hard evidence that will be presented about how the Clinton campaign was in bed with Christopher Steele and the Democrats in creating out of whole cloth this true disinformation. But here’s probably the most ironic part of the whole thing.
And that is the FBI because the suspect’s defense is that the FBI is incompetent. Now think about this for a second. What they’re going to be presenting is 300 emails that show that the FBI understood that Sussmann worked for the Democrat campaigns.
So if Sussmann is going to say it doesn’t matter what my text or email said to the general counsel, the FBI knew that I was a lawyer working for the Democrats. And they knew that at the outset.
