Live from Music Row, Friday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. – official guest host Aaron Gulbransen welcomed the original all-star panelist Crom Carmichael to the studio for another edition of Crom’s Crommentary.
CROM CARMICHAEL:
You know, Michael, we watch what’s going on now, and I watch it with a kind of amazement. I can’t remember that prayer where you ask God to keep you calm and help you accomplish the things that you can accomplish and not worry about the things that you really can’t affect.
That’s not it, the prayer itself. What they say is much more eloquent than what I just said. I am not nearly as agitated about what is going on now because there’s nothing that I could have done to stop it. All I can do is watch it and observe.
But I think back, and it was Joe Biden who was the chairman of the Judiciary Committee when they faked up the charges on Clarence Thomas. And Joe Biden was part and parcel of those entirely faked-up charges.
Anita Hill was the person who was recruited to promulgate the lies, and then she got caught up once her secret affidavit became public. Then she had a choice of either going to prison for filing a false affidavit or for concocting those three stories, every one of which, by the way, was found in a book.
Not one book, three different books, as it was learned during those hearings. And then you think of Brett Kavanaugh, and you think of Blasey Ford.
I’m wondering whether or not Blasey Ford or Anita Hill is the so-called mole at Mar-a-Lago because we don’t know who that person is, but because they claim there is such a person, the media dutifully reports that that person actually exists, and whatever that person might say must be truthful.
Right now, there are a lot of whistleblowers in the FBI itself, blowing the whistle on the FBI itself right now and reporting on the internal dishonesty at the FBI in regard to Hunter Biden’s laptop prior to the 2020 election. But those whistleblowers can’t get the time of day.
And so it’s just fascinating to me to watch the lengths at which these people will go to try to stop Trump. Now, here’s something that’s interesting. I read this yesterday in The Wall Street Journal. Do you know David Rivkin?
He’s the attorney who writes regularly in The Wall Street Journal about the Constitution. And he says, this was something I falsely believed. I falsely believed it to be true that if a person was a convicted felon, the Constitution says they cannot run for president.
That’s what I believe to be true. Rivkin says that’s actually not true. The Constitution does not prohibit a convicted felon from running for president.
And the people who say that if they can just figure out a way to bring some kind of charge against Trump and then try him in the Washington courts, which we know is a kangaroo court comprised of completely partisan Democrats who will do whatever it takes to try to stop Trump, we know that that court will be, on its face, illegitimate to start with.
But that won’t stop Trump from running, because the Constitution says that to qualify to run for president, you must be 35 years old, you must be a natural-born citizen, and you must have resided in the United States for the past 14 years prior to running.
It then goes on to say that the only thing that disqualifies somebody is if they had been indicted and convicted, impeached and convicted by the Senate, that person is not eligible to run.
But that would not be the case here. This would just be a regular jury. That would be a fake jury. So they can’t stop Trump from running. So they’re doing everything they can to tarnish him.
And I have friends on the left, and I bumped into one yesterday, and we discussed this, and I didn’t realize that he was a Never Trumper he is a Republican, but I never knew that he was a Never Trumper.
And it was amazing how he believed that what was going on right now with Trump’s home was good for the sole reason of stopping Trump. And I said, well, what would happen if it happened to you? Well, that would be different.
So it’s a fascinating thing to see how this is breaking down. And all we can do, Michael, is see what happens, and especially see if it affects the midterms. And we won’t know that until the midterms.
