Crom’s Crommentary: The Pushing of Green New Deal Subsidies

Live from Music Row Wednesday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. – host Leahy welcomed the original all-star panelist Crom Carmichael to the studio for another edition of Crom’s Crommentary.

CROM CARMICHAEL:

Michael, there was an interesting article in The Wall Street Journal about Joe Manchin and about Biden’s attempt to get the Build Back Better energy part, his Green New Deal part through the Senate and through the House, which gives enormous subsidies, enormous subsidies to renewable energy.

Now here’s what happens – if you give enormous subsidies to renewable energies, what does it do to the affordability of fossil fuels? It makes them unaffordable. By comparison, it will make it unaffordable. And so the taxpayers will be driving up energy costs by being forced to subsidize green energy.

Let me just tell you what’s happening in Germany. Statistics on radio sometimes don’t work. But Germany, now, of all of its energy, it is 30 percent renewable. It is 30 percent green, so to speak. The United States is right at 13 percent. A gallon of gasoline in Germany costs $7.50. A gallon of gasoline in the U.S., $3.51 at the time this article was written.

And that’s just a few days ago. Electricity in Germany, in kilowatts, it’s 36 cents a kilowatt. In the U.S., it’s 15 cents a kilowatt. Natural gas in kilowatts in Germany is 6.7 cents a kilowatt. In the U.S., it’s 4 cents a kilowatt. In the 10 months starting January 2024, the U.S. has imported 232,000,000 barrels of oil from Russia.

And Germany imports 32 percent of its gas from Russia. And so therein lies the problem of our NATO countries. And it doesn’t matter how tough Biden says he is. As he does in so many other things, what he is saying and what he is doing in regards to these sanctions are not the same thing. He’s not doing them.

And so now the new news is that Biden has essentially told Putin he can have the Ukraine. But don’t take a step further, big boy. Don’t you take a step further, big boy.

And these issues now they’re trying to push this Green New Deal subsidy, which will increase our energy costs in this country directly or indirectly by another 50 percent to 100 percent.
