Just a day after a convicted sex offender was released from a Tennessee prison, he allegedly attacked two women in separate incidents in Nashville, landing him back behind bars.
Dontez Drew, 27, was released from the Hardeman County Correctional Facility on Wednesday but was back in custody on Thursday.
He allegedly attacked a woman walking from her work to her home in downtown Nashville at around 3 a.m. Thursday morning, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD). Police say that Drew (pictured above) approached the woman underneath a railroad overpass and grabbed her by the neck, threatening her with a knife. He allegedly dragged her into an alley and threatened to kill her, but she was able to escape and call the police.
For that, he has been charged with attempted aggravated rape and especially aggravated kidnapping.
At 2 p.m. on Thursday, Drew is accused of attacking a woman inside the elevator of her apartment complex with a baseball bat. Police say he hit her over the head.
“In Thursday afternoon’s attack, the victim reported that she was returning to her Pine Street apartment from walking her dog when she saw Drew loitering in the hallway outside her door,” police said. “Drew told the victim he was delivering Uber Eats and provided a non-existent apartment number. The victim went inside her apartment, secured her dog, and then left to tell management that a strange man was on the premises. When the victim got to the elevator, she found Drew there waiting. He used a wooden baseball bat to strike her in the face. She screamed and turned to run. Drew then struck her in the back of the head with the bat. Drew also took her cell phone.”
In that incident, he has been charged with attempted criminal homicide and especially aggravated robbery.
The victim was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with a serious head injury.
Police said that concerned citizens helped ensure that Drew was arrested.
When residents of the second victim’s apartment complex heard the victim screaming, some called the police and followed him to make sure he did not escape. An MNPD officer arrived shortly thereafter to arrest him.

Doesn’t speak volumes .. The police more about arresting and jailing a young hero that painted over an evil street painting then protecting its citizens from scumbags..
Nashville is fast becoming the SH of the south..
Went there several weeks ago and thought I was in the ghetto in Miami ….
Uh, how Long was he in jail, did he complete the 12 steps with peer support, has he had any emotional intelligence training?? Is the prison overcrowded with bullshit parole violations?
Come on Nashville, you are better than that! keep your people safe and the animals behind bars.
I hate to have to be the one who says it but….WE TOLD YOU SO! These thugs are not responsible enough to be let back out on the streets. Back on the streets thanks to some liberal judge no doubt.
….”Choose How You Move” is an escape plan.
