Despite Winning Climate Hypocrite Award, Al Gore Will Lecture About Climate Change at Vanderbilt

Former Democratic vice president Al Gore is scheduled to speak about climate change — and offer what he describes as solutions — at Vanderbilt University November 20.

Organizers call the event  “24 Hours of Reality: Truth in Action.” Gore will speak as part of the Vanderbilt Chancellor’s Lecture Series, according to a Vanderbilt press release.

The Tennessee Star asked Vanderbilt spokeswoman Julia Jordan whether anyone with a point of view contrary to Gore’s will have equal time to speak.

But in an email, Jordan said she had no other details about the event, outside of the press release.

As reported earlier this month, Gore won the top Climate Hypocrite Award, given to climate change alarmists who don’t practice what they preach. U.S. Republican Sen. Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma presented the award.

As National Center for Public Policy Research Senior Fellow Drew Johnson concluded in a report on Gore:

“Al Gore has attained a near-mythical status for his frenzied efforts to propagandize global warming. At the same time, Gore has done little to prove his commitment to the cause in his own life,” Johnson wrote. “While Gore encourages people throughout the world to reduce their carbon footprint and make drastic changes to cut energy consumption, Gore’s own home electricity use has hypocritically increased to more than 21 times the national average this past year with no sign of slowing down.”

According to the Vanderbilt press release, the climate crisis presentation at Vanderbilt is one of thousands happening around the world that day.

“Climate Reality Leaders previously trained by Gore will hold public presentations and conversations on the topic in schools, community centers, workplaces and many more venues,” the press release said.

As reported in May, Gore traveled to Australia to preach to the locals about climate change — at Australian taxpayers’ expense.

Gore reportedly did during a three-day climate change lecture in Queensland in at the Minister’s Climate Change event in Brisbane.

I have my own beefs about Gore, Jr. Although he has done many things that I can agree with him on, most of those occurred when he was still both a Congressperson and a U.S. Senator from 1977 until 1993. He did support AMTRAK passenger service and he did vote against unsavory rightists for the U.S. Supreme Court such as William Rheinquist (sp.?). But he also ran as a de facto Republican in the 1988 Super Primary where he accepted several millions of dollars from an anti-abortion (so-called Pro Life–or is it merely Pro-Birth group?). As Vice President, he supported the deployment of U.S. ground troops to the Persian Gulf War of 1990-1991, he accepted a pro-Israeli puppet named Joe Leiberman as his running mate in 2000, he voted for male-only draft registration with no protections for conscientious objectors during 1979 and 1980, and worst of all, he supported PRIVATIZATION of the Internet!

Yes, despite his half-way decent votes on environmental issues, he still has this baggage from other issues where he sided with the Pentagon warmongers and the social/cultural rightists. Those are MY beefs with Gore, Jr.
