Five Tennessee state representatives and three Tennessee state senators endorsed U.S. Representative Andy Ogles (R-TN-05) for reelection to Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District.
Tennessee Senate Majority Leader Jack Johnson (R-Franklin) and State Senators Joey Hensley (R-Hohenwald) and Mark Pody (R-Lebanon), all of whose districts are within the 5th Congressional District, endorsed Ogles’ reelection campaign.
Johnson, who has served as Senate Majority Leader since 2018, said Ogles has “shown a strong commitment to Tennessee values and conservative principles” during his first term in Congress.
“[Ogles’] efforts to address issues such as border security, government accountability, and inflation highlight his dedication to improving the lives of all Americans. Andy’s hard work and passion for service are valuable to both our state and our nation. I support Congressman Ogles for re-election and encourage all of Tennessee’s Fifth Congressional District to consider doing the same,” Johnson added.
Hensley, who has served in the Tennessee Senate since 2013 after previously serving in the Tennessee House of Representatives for 10 years, said he was “proud” to endorse Ogles, calling the incumbent congressman a “true warrior for our freedoms.”
“In these challenging times, we need leaders like Andy, who stand up against big government and radical overreach. He is a fierce defender of our Constitution, tirelessly protecting our liberties. Andy speaks the truth and fights the establishment with fearless resolve. His dedication to limited government, fiscal responsibility, and individual freedom is unmatched. Congressman Ogles always puts America First, and I hope you’ll join me in supporting his re-election to keep our nation strong and free,” Hensley added.
Pody, who has served in the Tennessee Senate since 2018 after previously serving in the Tennessee House of Representatives for eight years, said he was able to see Ogles’ “conservative stance” while working with him in the past at the state level.
“While working with Andy Ogles at the State Capitol for many years, I was able to see his conservative stance. When he was Mayor of Maury County, we watched him stand up to the federal government to protect his citizens’ constitutional rights. Now, as a congressman, he has been very outspoken, trying to stand up for all of Tennessee against the overreach of the federal government,” Pody said.
Ogles was also endorsed by Tennessee State Representatives Gino Bulso (R-Brentwood), Clark Boyd (R-Lebanon), Kip Capley (R-Summertown), Scott Cepicky (R-Culleoka), Susan Lynn (R-Mount Juliet), and Jake McCalmon (R-Franklin) – all of whose districts are within the 5th Congressional District.
Bulso and Capley called Ogles the “clear” and “only” choice in the race, while McCalmon said the incumbent congressman is “fighting the good fight.”
Lynn cited Ogles’ work to “fix our broken system, limit the power of the federal government, and uphold our conservative values” in her endorsement, adding, “We can trust Andy to vote in line with President Trump’s agenda to protect our borders and restore the United States to a position of prominence on the world stage.”
Ogles said he was “honored” to receive the eight endorsements.
“I am honored to have received the endorsement of so many incredible champions of freedom, faith, and family. There is no greater mark of confidence and encouragement than to have the support of our legislators at home. Their trust in my commitment to our shared values is deeply humbling, and I am dedicated to continuing our fight for a brighter, freer future for Tennessee and our nation,” Ogles said.
Ogles has served as the U.S. representative for the Volunteer State’s 5th Congressional District since January 2023 and is a member of the House Freedom Caucus.
Before his election to Congress, Ogles served as the mayor of Maury County from 2018 until 2022.
In addition to the most recent endorsements by the Tennessee state legislators, Ogles has also been endorsed by Americans for Prosperity Action, multiple members of the Tennessee congressional delegation, the Conservative Political Action Conference, the Republican Liberty Caucus, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA-04), and former President Donald Trump.
Ogles faces Metro Nashville Council Member Courtney Johnston in the Republican primary, which will be held on August 1.

I have just read your comment Cannoneertwo. I have read your comments for years. You are as rabid a radical left-wing Yellow Dog Democrat as they come. You are entitled to your opinion, but you are no Conservative and you are no Republican. Now, you go have yourself a good day.
I live in the 5th District. I’m a constituent, not a career politician. My Senator and Representative are both listed. The aforementioned state legislators haven’t passed enough actually useful legislation in the past few years to fill a thimble. We have crime issues. We have education issues. We have road issues, and “upholding our conservative values” isn’t making a dent in any of it.
AS A CONSTITUENT IN DISTRICT 5, I AM PROUD TO VOTE FOR REP ANDY OGLES IN THE AUGUST PRIMARY AS WELL AS THE NOVEMBER GENERAL. Thanks to redistricting by our State Legislature following the 2020 Census, we were able to redraw the lines of the US HOUSE Districts based on populations in each District. This allowed us to draw Jim Cooper (D)out, & make room for a Republican Rep Andy Ogles.
We can thank local Nashville Attorneys ( one being Mayor Ben West) who championed the famous case , known as “ONE PERSON, ONE VOTE”.
Now the LEFT is trying to abuse that decision by pouring illegal aliens into Democrat run Cities in order to justify the addition of Congressional seats in their Districts. Yes, unfortunately illegal aliens are counted in our US CENSUS, for purposes of wealth redistribution & additional House Seats are Justified.
So Rep Andy Ogles, it looks like we are going to need additional Legislation, to stop counting illegals in the Census or at least not for reasons of Redistricting.
I WAS VERY PLEASED TO SEE REP OGLES GO TO STAND WITH PRESIDENT TRUMP IN THE NYC COURTROOM, WHERE A TYRRANICAL DEPT OF JUSTICE WAS UNCONSTITUTIONALLY ORDERING THE REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT TO BE GAGGED.
We Americans watched in horror as our Constitution was ripped to shreds by an unelected temporary Judge Juan Merchan.
Thank God President Trumps vision for America was the need for a more Conservative Supreme Court. He therefore nominated & got Senate approval for those three new Justices, which along with two other Conservative Justices, have issued decisions which brings America’s salvation into clear focus.
Unfortunately,
I cannot support Senator Marsha Blackburn this election cycle, bc she chose to abandon her Constituents on January 6, 2021 by voting for Joe Biden to be Certified as the WORST PRESIDENT IN AMERICAN HISTORY.
CONSEQUENCES FOR HER ACTION IS NECESSARY. There are Tennessee citizens sitting in the DC GULAG, & yet I have not heard her mention it. I could have missed it, I suppose. But I think I would have heard about it if she did. She knows the J6 Fraud Committee that has put Peter Navarro & Steve Bannon in jail, was actual fraud. Yet the silence on her part is deafening.
She will probably win her US SENATE seat, but she doesn’t deserve it.
Her situation makes me think about WHY U S SENATORS are elected by the popular Vote. Didn’t used to be that way. U S SENATORS originally were appointed by the State Legislature, which made sense, bc their Primary Focus by our Founders was to be on State Sovereignty.
Now our bloated Federal Government has run rough shod over State Sovereignty. I’d like to see some States AGs look at taking that power back.
