Former President Donald Trump will hold a rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan on Saturday with vice presidential nominee, U.S. Senator JD Vance (R-OH).

Saturday’s rally, which will be held indoors at the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids at 5:00 EST, will mark Trump’s first rally since announcing Vance as his running mate.

On Monday, Trump was officially nominated as the Republican presidential nominee at the Republican National Convention by a roll call of GOP delegations from all 50 states, five territories, and the District of Columbia.

Vance was also officially nominated as Trump’s vice presidential nominee at the Republican National Convention on Monday.

Real Clear Politics’ 2024 RCP Electoral College Map lists the battleground state of Michigan as a toss up state for this year’s presidential election.

Trump won Michigan in 2016 by 0.3 percent of the vote, however, lost the state in 2020 to incumbent President Joe Biden by 2.8 percent.

“The people of Michigan have suffered greatly thanks to crooked Joe Biden’s failed policies. With inflation in Michigan at almost 20%, families are paying $980 more per month for everyday goods. If Biden is reelected, his proposed tax hikes will cost the average taxpayer in Michigan an additional $2,054 per year in taxes,” the Trump campaign said.

The campaign went on to describe how “Hard-working Michiganders are paying the ultimate price for Joe Biden’s woke agenda.”

“Joe Biden’s open border and pro-criminal policies are putting the great people of Michigan in danger as the Fentanyl Epidemic results in a staggering 31% increase in opioid overdose deaths…Joe Biden’s failed policies have left a path of death, and destruction in Michigan. President Trump will ease the financial pressures placed on households and re-establish law and order in Michigan,” Trump’s campaign said.

“We can Make America Great Again by tackling lawlessness head-on, ceasing the endless flow of illegal immigrants across our southern border, and reversing the detrimental effects [of] inflation by restoring the American people’s wealth,” the former president’s campaign added.

Saturday will also mark the first rally and exactly one week since Trump survived an assassination attempt during an outdoor campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Trump was grazed by a single bullet in his upper right ear in what is formally being investigated as a failed assassination attempt during the rally.

Minutes after Trump took the stage in Butler at approximately 6:13 p.m. on July 13, a suspected shooter – who has since been identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania – fired multiple shots toward the stage from an elevated position outside of the venue.

Crooks was fatally shot by Secret Service personnel after he shot and killed one spectator and injured three others, including the former president.

The deceased spectator has been identified as former Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Company Chief Corey Comperatore, who heroically spent his final moments diving in front of his family to protect them from the gunfire.
