GOP to Pursue FBI ‘Secret Files’ Regarding Contact with Big Tech

by Eric Lendrum

On Sunday, Congressman Mike Turner (R-OH-10) said that the new GOP majority in the House of Representatives will investigate recently-revealed examples of collusion between Big Tech and the FBI by pursuing any “secret files” the FBI may have kept on the matter.

The New York Post reports that Turner, the incoming Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, said on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures” that “it is my understanding from our contacts that we have had with the FBI that there are secret files that the FBI has of these contacts that they were having with social media and with mainstream media.”

“And it has been our objective to get ahold of those files, to see the extent of this, so we can stop it, we can cut off the funding and prevent, obviously, average Americans being impacted by FBI actions,” Turner continued.

Turner’s comments come after the release of the sixth installment of the “Twitter Files,” internal communications, screenshots, and other data compiled and approved by new Twitter owner Elon Musk, and officially released through journalists Matt Taibbi and Bari Weiss. In posting the sixth entry, Taibbi referred to Twitter as an “FBI Subsidiary” due to numerous communications between the Big Tech company and the bureau to coordinate censorship of conservative content.

In his interview, Turner thanked Musk for his role in bringing this information to light, noting that while we pursue the intelligence community to try to hold them accountable, while we’re doing that, Elon Musk is showing what’s happening on the other side with the willing partners, the mainstream media, social media, and really exposing the coordination that was occurring between the FBI and them.”

The November midterms saw the GOP gain a narrow majority in the House of Representatives, giving them the authority to maintain majorities and chairmanships on all committees, thus allowing them to set the agendas and issue subpoenas to anyone they choose. Among other targets that the GOP has vowed to investigate, including Hunter Biden’s numerous scandals and the true origins of the COVID-19 virus, GOP leaders have made Big Tech censorship a top priority going into 2023.
