Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley recently announced key additions to her presidential campaign in New Hampshire, the “building blocks of a winning campaign in the Granite State.”
Haley is among several GOP presidential hopefuls making the rounds in New Hampshire this week, including the party’s sparing frontrunners.
As the New Hampshire Journal reports, Haley’s campaign has named campaign chairs for key New Hampshire counties as Haley pledges to keep up her constant campaign in the state that will host the first Republican Party presidential nominating primary in 2024.
“Nikki Haley has crisscrossed the Granite State, holding town halls, answering every question, and meeting voters face-to-face,” Ken Farnaso, Haley’s campaign spokeswoman told the publication. “Unlike some other candidates, she doesn’t parachute in and out. She puts in the time and effort on the ground because she believes every vote must be earned. No one will outwork Nkki Haley.”
Perhaps that was a shot at Republican Party frontrunners, former President Donald Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who were sniping with each other this week about dueling campaign stops in the Granite State. But more on that in a bit.
Haley’s co-chairs, according to the Journal include:
- General Don Bolduc – Rockingham County
- Jeanene Cooper – Rockingham County
- Kim Rice – Hillsborough County
- Melinda Tourangeu – Hillsborough County
- Mary Mayville – Merrimack County
- Bill Sommers and Joanne Sommers, Cheshire County
- Paul Lange, Belknap County
Bolduc, a retired U.S. Army Brigadier General, ran unsuccessfully for U.S. Senate in 2022. He was one of Haley’s first high-profile supporters.
“There’s only one tough-as-nails conservative in this race who’s taken on Republicans, Democrats, and our foreign enemies—and won,” Bolduc said in a statement. “Nikki Haley is the woman in the arena and is a fearless defender of American values at home and abroad. She’ll be a commander-in-chief we all can be proud of.”
Haley has scheduled several stops around New Hampshire this week, including a town hall Tuesday evening in Hollis. On Wednesday, the former United Nations secretary is slated to be at The New Hampshire Summer Cookout with Governor Chris Sununu in Manchester.
The Granite State is crowded with presidential candidates this week. Ohio businessman Vivek Ramaswamy kicked off his latest New Hampshire swing on Sunday.
And then there are the elephants in the room.
DeSantis held an open forum Tuesday in Hollis, taking an array of questions from primary voters. As the governor’s event ended, a Trump luncheon was getting underway 30 miles north in Concord. The Trump campaign and the former president’s supporters were not pleased with what they saw as DeSantis’ attempt to undercut the frontrunner with his opening act.
