Weston Wamp, son of former Tennessee Republican Congressman Zach Wamp, is running for mayor of Hamilton County, and his past tweets reveal an intense dislike and even a resistance to former President Donald Trump.
In more than one tweet, Weston Wamp denied that Trump is a conservative. In another post, Wamp warned that Trump, as president, would likely derail the national economy and spark a recession. In another post, Wamp predicted that the former president would demolish the Republican Party.
One year ago, Weston Wamp said he did not agree with current President Joe Biden’s policy positions. Nevertheless, Wamp, on the day of Biden’s inauguration, commemorated the event.
“Today represents an amazing triumph for this man at 78 years old — and I have a hunch it’s the ultimate promise kept to his late son Beau,” Weston Wamp tweeted at 12:04 p.m. ET, just as Biden was taking the oath.
"My whole soul is in it."
I believe him. I don't agree with our 46th President on a whole lot, but I'll take him at his word.

Weston Wamp said this week that he is not his father concerning the latter’s views on Trump.
Zach Wamp recently co-signed a recent letter supporting Representative Liz Cheney (R-WY At-large District) and Representative Adam Kinzinger (R-IL-16) for their work investigating the events of January 6, 2021.
“I am not my father, and I had nothing to do with the letter,” Wamp said, without elaborating.
The Tennessee Star then asked Weston Wamp whether he worries Trump will endorse one of his opponents in the Hamilton County primary.
“No, because I am the most conservative candidate running for Hamilton County mayor,” Weston Wamp said.
Zach Wamp – who served in the House of Representatives for eight terms from 1995-2011 – advises a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit, Issue One, that, according to its website, “unites Republicans, Democrats, and independents in the movement to fix our broken political system.”
Former congress member Wamp and other Issue One members last month urged more members of the GOP to assist with the January 6 committee’s work. Zach Wamp and the letter’s other co-signers described the people who came to the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021 as “a violent mob” who did “lasting damage to our democratic norms and institutions.”
Issue One’s website lists Weston Wamp as a consultant and senior political strategist for the nonprofit.

I never heard of this young lad Weston Wamp. First impression is that he is immature, more than a bit arrogant, entitled, and clueless. Weston, grow up you’re behaving like a petulant ten-year old child.
The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. WAMP unfit to hold office.
Weston will lose
Good Grief! Smart people keep their mouths shut.
Thanks TN Star, you helped me sort out who I wanted for Hamilton County Mayor and it wont be Weston Wamp. Matt Hullander has my vote…I am sick to death of these establishment Republicans.
Couldn’t agree more, breh.
I can’t stand the Chamber of Commerce/neocon element of the GOP, which is mercifully declining in influence.
