In a specific discussion Tuesday on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 am to 8:00 am – Leahy was joined on the newsmakers line by Alabama congressman, Mo Brooks to talk about the organized effort of the Republicans to enter the ‘impeachment’ hearings and the Democrats strategy to win the 2020 elections.
At the end of the third hour, Congressman Brooks described the Democrats’ mission as a repeat of Russian collusion 2.0 and described how their tactic worked in the 2018 election and hope it will do the same in the 20020 by continuing to sow seeds of misinformation by using the mainstream media.
He described the Democrats by stating, ‘They understand it and they’re in favor of it. They believe that’s going to help motivate their voters to give the socialist Democrats the White House, the Senate, and the House all at once so that they can implement their dictatorial philosophy that is embedded in their socialist beliefs.’
Leahy: We are joined now by our good friend Congressman Mo Brooks from Alabama. Congressman Brooks, great to talk with you.
Brooks: My pleasure! Good day to you folks up in the Nashville area.
Leahy: You are such a trouble maker Congressman Brooks. you and Mark Green, and Representative Matt Gaetz and Bradley Burn from Fairhope, Alabama were part of this crew that stormed the secret chamber of Adam Schiff last week and I think you’ve had some results. Tell us how that came about. You were pretty vocal in your criticism of Adam ‘Shifty’ Schiff, weren’t you?
Brooks: Well Matt Gaetz took the lead. He’s a Congressman from the panhandle of Florida. He organized it. About 20 or 30 of us agreed to speak at the news conference. Probably close to 35 or 40 congressmen showed up at the news conference. Immediately thereafter we walked down the hallway to the skiff. The folks who were there would not let us in. We started chanting, ‘Let us in. Let us in.’ (Leahy laughs)
Leahy: Great theatre.
Brooks: One of the staffers opened the door to tell us that wasn’t going to work. And someone commented and said, ‘Well, I’m sorry. You’re a staffer. We’re congressmen. You don’t have the authority to stop us from going in.’ And with the door now unlocked and open, we just walked on through.
Leahy: So you were in the skiff. What is it, like four floors in the basement with no windows? Is that what the skiff is like?
Brooks: It’s in a subterranean part of the capital yes.
Leahy: Did you feel like you were in a Jason Bourne novel or movie? (Laughter)
Brooks: Well, I’ve been in the skiff before when it was actually being used as a skiff where there was classified information being relayed to congressmen. What has happened is the Democrats have misappropriated a skiff, we have a skiff to prevent our enemies from abroad from finding out national security information that would help them defeat our warfighters in the field.
Or in America, should we ever have a battle on American soil to keep the Chinese and the Russians from finding out. The Democrats have misappropriated a skiff to keep the American people from finding out unclassified information about the Democrats’ effort to impeach the President of the United States.
So they have totally misappropriated and misused and abused this skiff for purposes that hurt the American people. Now has it been a success? Absolutely. Now that we’ve shed light on what was going on the Democrats have started running scared.
They have discerned that they have an indefensible position. And this week they hope to pass a floor vote. And of course, they’ll have the votes that would formalize the process and hopefully make it public. But even then, we don’t know what the resolutions actually going to do.
It sounds like they want to ratify the tainted evidence that has been obtained so far. And we want to start from scratch where everything including the testimony of every preceding witness is retaken and done in public where the public has the opportunity to look at the demeanor of the person while they are speaking in order to give the public a better idea of to who’s telling the truth and who is not.
Leahy: So the vote is scheduled on this resolution for the House floor on Thursday. And you think there will basically be a party-line vote and it will pass? Is that what you think?
Brooks: That would be my best guess. Whether it would be 100% percent Democrats for. Or 100%Â Republicans against I can’t say. But it will be pretty close to that.
Leahy: Are there any Democrats who have the courage to say, ‘No, I’m not going to go along with this kangaroo court.’
Brooks: None that I’m aware of.
Leahy: Wow. Wow. How do you run a country?
Brooks: By the way, you used the word kangaroo court. I’ve used the phrase witchhunt. And then there’s also been the phrase star chamber used. But in fairness, the kangaroo courts and witchhunts at least they were done in public. (Leahy and Smithson chuckle)
Leahy: That’s a very good point. So yes, it’s worse than a kangaroo court. Worse than a witchhunt. I think star chamber would be appropriate. What about the judicial temperament and the partisan unfairness of Adam Schiff? Have you ever seen anybody that partisan?
Brooks: (Sighs) Well I work in Washington. I see a lot of people that partisan. But Adam Schiff is remarkable for his lack of honor and for his dishonesty. Keep in mind, he is the one who repeatedly and publicly said that there was hard evidence of Russian collusion between President Trump and the Trump campaign and the Russians when the Mueller report confirmed that there was zero.
And Adam Schiff was one of the ones that helped prolong this process and investigation of the alleged Russian collusion for more than two years. And he did so solely for the purpose of trying to have a positive result in the 2018 election cycle.
Which he did! They were able to fool enough voters into thinking there was substance to the Russian collusion claim that they voted Democrat rather than Republican putting Adam Schiff and Nancy Pelosi in power. And what you’re seeing is a repeat of that.
There is no evidence that I’m aware of of an impeachable offense if you’re going to abide by the constitution’s requirement of high crimes, misdemeanors, treason, or bribery. OK? Zero evidence of that. No law that supports it. If you read the law as it is plainly drafted and interpreted.
But the Democrats are trying to open up that playbook, do Russian collusion 2.0, that’s their motivation, in hopes of impacting in a favorable way to Democrats the 2020Â elections like their lies did with the 2018 elections.
Leahy: Is this playing well in Huntsville, Alabama?
Brooks: Well there are people who watch CNN and MSNBC who have no clue as to what’s really going on. And they are adamantly in favor of what the Democrats are doing based on the false information that they see and hear. On the other hand, there are people who get their information from more trustworthy sources and they’re outraged. So the American people are split pretty badly.
Leahy: Do any of the Democrats understand the damage they’re doing to national unity by this star chamber proceeding?
Brooks: They understand it and they’re in favor of it. They believe that’s going to help motivate their voters to give the socialist Democrats the White House, the Senate, and the House all at once so that they can implement their dictatorial philosophy that is embedded in their socialist beliefs.
