Former Vice President Joe Biden won the Tennessee Presidential Primary on Tuesday night – outpacing Senator Bernie Sanders and New York news media mogul Michael Bloomberg, according to the Tennessee Secretary of State. His victory was part of a huge night for Biden on Super Tuesday.
The former Vice President got 42.6 percent of the total vote. Democratic Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders came in second at 24.5 percent, and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg finished third at 16.1 percent.
The Volunteer State had 64 total delegates up for grabs. To clinch the Democratic nominee, a Democrat needs a total of 1,991 delegates.
The former Delaware Senator won most of Tennessee’s biggest counties: Shelby County, Knox County, Hamilton County, Rutherford County and Williamson County. The voting information for Davidson County has not been released because of the recent tornado that hit the area.
The victory in Tennessee comes as Biden did not really focus on the state. According to the Tennessean, he has not been to Tennessee in over a year and spent less than $200,000 in the state.
A total of 408,831 people voted in Tennessee’s Democratic presidential primary, which is only 33,154 more votes than the number of voters who turned out in the Republican presidential primary. President Donald Trump received almost 97 percent of the vote.
A Swayable poll released on Tuesday showed Biden was the favorite coming into Tennessee’s presidential primary.
However, a January poll done by Mason-Dixon Polling Strategy found that if Biden goes up against Trump in Tennessee in the general election, he would lose by 15 percent.
In the 2016 presidential election, Trump defeated Hillary Clinton in the Volunteer State by almost 25 percentage points.
From here, the Democratic candidates will compete for delegates in the March 10th primary contests in Idaho, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, North Dakota, and Washington.

What I don’t understand is why black voters in Tennessee would vote for Biden over Sanders when the former has more in common with David Duke of the Ku Klux Klan than he does with progressivism. Biden promoted stop ‘n’ frisk, welfare reform, more prisons, crooked real estate/banking practices that ripped off black homeowners as well as several white homeowners. Why would black voters shoot themselves in the foot by voting for a Delaware white racist? It makes no sense at all. Does Biden merely have a better personality or more sex appeal than Sanders in the eyes of these voters?
Maybe it’s because most of them are smart enough to see how stupid it is to be advocating socialism.
