Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs endorsed U.S. Representative Andy Ogles (R-TN-05) for reelection to Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District.

In a statement announcing his endorsement of the incumbent congressman, Jacobs applauded Ogles’ handling of the “Biden Administration’s draconian overreach during the COVID crisis” while he was the mayor of Maury County from 2018 until 2022, calling him a “true fighter.”

“Andy Ogles and I were among the few in our state with the courage to challenge the Biden Administration’s draconian overreach during the COVID crisis. He has always been a true fighter, defending our liberties and freedoms with unwavering resolve,” Jacobs said.

“Andy will never back down, whether it’s championing landmark legislation to secure our borders, slashing government spending to combat inflation, or curbing government overreach. I am proud to endorse Congressman Andy Ogles for reelection. For Tennessee’s Fifth District, Andy is the only clear choice,” Jacobs added.

Ogles’ support from Jacobs comes days after he formally received the endorsement of Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry, who headlined the Tennessee Republican Party’s annual Statesmen’s Dinner in Nashville last month.

Landry said he was “glad” to endorse Ogles, citing the congressman’s work on “securing our border,” “fighting inflation,” and “safeguarding our constitutional rights.”

The Louisiana Governor also touted Ogles’ efforts on the House Financial Services Committee, which Landry said “have brought greater transparency and accountability-fighting to stop bureaucratic overreach, letting the free market thrive, and ensuring small businesses prosper.”

“Andy is a true patriot who consistently puts America First, works tirelessly to drain the swamp, and restore integrity in Washington. I encourage voters to support Andy Ogles for re-election. He will never back down, and that is exactly what we need in these challenging times. Andy Ogles has my full endorsement,” Landry added.

Ogles, a member of the House Freedom Caucus, has served as the U.S. representative for the Volunteer State’s 5th Congressional District since January 2023.

In addition to Landry and Jacobs’ recent endorsements, Ogles has been endorsed by multiple Tennessee state legislators, congressional legislators, Americans for Prosperity Action, the Conservative Political Action Conference, the Republican Liberty Caucus, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA-04), and former President Donald Trump.

Ogles faces Metro Nashville Council Member Courtney Johnston in the Republican primary, which will be held on August 1.

Early voting for the August 1 election runs through Saturday.
