Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs Predicts 2020 Presidential Race

Knox County Republican Mayor Glenn Jacobs, a former professional wrestler and actor, appeared on the Beacon Center of Tennessee’s online talk show Over-Caffeinated to talk about the 2020 presidential election and how to have success in life.

Beacon is a Nashville-based free-market think tank.

People knew Jacobs while he was in the WWE as “Kane.”

Jacobs told hosts Mark Cunningham and Justin Owen that he predicts Democrats will nominate former vice president Joe Biden to run against U.S. Republican President Donald Trump next year.

U.S. Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren, he said, is “the hard-left pick.”

“The problem when you have someone on the hard left or the hard right is they will have to move back to the center in the general election, and I don’t know that Warren can do that as well as Biden could,” Jacobs said.

Biden, Jacobs said, has a better chance than Warren of beating Trump.

“If it’s Warren then it will be a much more ideological race. But Trump wins unless there is a significant economic downturn.”

Jacobs warned that polls next year might show Trump will lose the election — and lose badly — but he also said there is “a silent block of voters who are Trump supporters” who aren’t admitting that to pollsters.

In the interview, Jacobs also discussed his departure from the entertainment world into the political world and whether he might one day run for higher office.

“Anytime more than one person is involved in something it becomes political,” Jacobs said.

Jacobs also said 70 percent of one’s success in life is due to his or her interpersonal relationship skills, while 30 percent is due to their technical skills.

As The Tennessee Star reported earlier this year, Over-Caffeinated recently featured Country Music singer John Rich, who made some interesting observations about New York Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the Green New Deal.
