Legal Expert Phill Kline: DOJ’s ‘Radical’ Election Interference Operation on Full Display in Virginia Case

Phill Kline, former Kansas Attorney General and current law professor at Liberty University School of Law, said the U.S. Department of Justice’s (DOJ) “radical” election interference operation is on full display following Wednesday’s ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court that allows Virginia to remove individuals identified as noncitizens from its voter rolls.

Earlier this month, the DOJ sued Virginia over removing non-citizens from its rolls ahead of the November 5 general election.

Virginia appealed a lower court’s ruling in favor of the DOJ ordering the commonwealth to place 1,500 non-citizens back on its voter rolls. This led to Wednesday’s 6-3 ruling by the nation’s highest court allowing Virginia to remove non-citizens from its voter rolls.

Kline said the DOJ’s challenge to Virginia’s removal of noncitizens from its voter rolls is “an indictment” that the department, under Attorney General Merrick Garland, “consistently” interprets the law “in a manner that best benefits those who are ideologically aligned.”

“The Justice Department under Garland has consistently been approaching elections in a manner that prevents people from asking any questions,” Kline explained on Wednesday’s edition of The Michael Patrick Leahy Show.

Kline called Wednesday’s ruling by the Supreme Court a “clear” and “wise decision.”

“It is particularly big news because, again, it reveals Garland and his operation of the U.S. Department of Justice,” Kline said.

Kline pointed to the DOJ and the Biden-Harris administration’s continued “radical” approach to the rule of law through its “repeated effort to forgive student loans.”

“It’s a reflection of how the Justice Department and the Biden administration have been radical in their approach to the rule of law, the separation of powers on core issues. You only have to look at the repeated effort to forgive student loans and how many rulings in federal court in the U.S. Supreme Court does it take for the administration to stop trying to engage in unconstitutional actions, which are contrary to the separation of powers,” Kline said.

“You have a consistency within the Biden administration and the Department of Justice to interpret the law in a manner that best benefits those who are ideologically aligned,” Kline added.
