Loretta Lynn’s Flood Relief Efforts Raise More Than $930,000 for Tennesseans in Need

Country music artist Loretta Lynn revealed this week that her Hometown Rising concert on Monday raised more than $930,000 for Tennesseans impacted by the deadly flood in August that killed 20 people, left more than 270 homes destroyed, and damaged more than 500 structures.

Lynn’s concert featured top country music artists including Garth Brooks, Luke Bryan, Luke Combs, Trisha Yearwood, Little Big Town, Reba McEntire, Chris Janson, Brittney Spencer, BRELAND, and Keith Urban.

In addition to the artists on stage at the Grand Ole Opry House, the program also featured recorded appearances from several other country stars including Tracy Lawrence, Carly Pearce, Thomas Rhett, Kid Rock, Darius Rucker, and Carrie Underwood.

Although Lynn was not in attendance, she said in a statement, “I’ve heard from so many friends that the show Monday night that my friends put together for our community not only raised money, but it also raised spirits after a long few weeks of loss and heartbreak. I loved the performances and the stories. While we shared some heartbreaking images and footage from our hometown, what I saw in those moments was the resilience people have shown amid so much loss. We’ll all be okay as long as we continue to help one another.”

United Way of Humphreys County is in charge of distributing the money to those in need who were impacted by the flood.

In order to continue fundraising for those in need throughout the coming weeks, Lynn has also partnered with Kendra Scott. Through the month of September, the jewelry company will donate 50% of proceeds from the sale of their Tennessee Guitar charm to United Way of Humphreys County.
