Monogram Foods, a manufacturer of packaged and value-added foods, will expand its operations in Tennessee, according to Governor Bill Lee and Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bob Rolfe.
The new space will infuse a $53.5 million investment into the economy in Dickson and create approximately 400 new jobs for the region.
“I thank Monogram Foods for its continued investment in Tennessee and congratulate the company on its newest operations in Dickson. We welcome these 400 new manufacturing positions in rural Tennessee as we continue to focus on high-quality job growth across our state,” said Lee.
In the investment, the company purchased a building from Conagra, which planned to close down the facility. However, because of the new initiative, Monogram Foods agreed to employ the existing employees and continue operations.
The Memphis-based manufacturer already has 3,000 employees and operates 11 manufacturing facilities across seven different states.
Local officials celebrated the announcement, detailing the need for the investment.
“Dickson County is looking forward to Monogram Foods becoming the newest corporate partner in our community. The county’s ability to retain the existing Conagra employees was the greatest factor when negotiating the Monogram Foods project. The new average wage and additional jobs created were an added bonus for the local community. Projects like Monogram Foods raise the bar for future industry recruitment to provide quality jobs for those living in and around Dickson County,” said Dickson County Mayor Bob Rial.
“I am excited that Monogram Foods has chosen to establish a manufacturing facility in Dickson that will bring nearly 400 jobs to our community. Not only will the company make a sizeable investment in our county, but I am grateful that existing Conagra employees will be retained so that no jobs are lost during the transition. I look forward to seeing Monogram Foods thrive in Dickson County for years to come,” added State Rep. Mary Littleton (R-Dickson).

Who is spending the 53 million, the company or our robber baron-controlled government? And how much is this “investment” costing the citizens of all the other 94 counties?
At $132,500 per job, if it is being totally funded by the company with no government hand-outs, it is a steal compared to the $180,000 per job deal that us citizens gave to Ford. Plus, I don’t see any discussion about Monogram dictating State policy regarding Covid mandates like Ford did.
This could be a win-win, but likely it’s just another give away by government to cement political contributions and support down the road. Time for a change!
Kevin – I hear you loud and clear. We will probably never know how many taxpayer dollars – current and future – were used to arrange this deal. Lee and his out-of-control Economic Development need to be shut down but my calls to my rep are met with a shrug with him saying the money is allocated with VERY general guidelines for usage. In other words, the legislature funds a big slush fund and then washes it collective hands. No accountability leads to shenanigans without limit.
