Governor Bill Lee and Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Stuart McWhorter, and Symmco Inc. officials announced that the powdered metal manufacturer would invest $13.1 million to expand and locate new manufacturing operations in Hawkins County, Tennessee.
Symco Inc. will be creating 86 new jobs over five years, according to the press release.
“Tennessee’s strong business climate and skilled workforce continue to attract companies to every part of the state, and our rural communities are no exception. I thank Symmco for its decision to invest in Hawkins County so that Tennesseans across the region can thrive,” Lee said on Tuesday.
McWhorter said Tennessee appreciated the company’s investment in Northeast Tennessee.
“With more than 2,600 manufacturing businesses across the state, Tennessee is positioned to provide companies like Symmco with the tools and resources needed to succeed,” he said.
“I am confident that Tennessee will be a great place for Symmco to expand. The cooperation of the state and local officials as well as the development officials from TVA made our decision to invest here easy. We are excited to be one of the newest employers in Hawkins County and look forward to many years of mutual success,” Symmco, Inc. Chairman of the Board Frank Roberts said.
Beth Krise, CEO and Pennsylvania president, Symmco, Inc, said it was his dream to expand the company into the southern states and be closer to major customers.
“This expansion will not only bring jobs to the area but new powder metal press and furnace technology. I am excited to see this vision become reality,” he said.
Symmco’s COO and Tennessee President Frank Freeman said the company is “excited to be a part of the Surgoinsville community.”
Hawkins County Mayor Jim Lee said happy to welcome Symmco, Inc, to Hawkins County.
“These jobs will be welcomed by our tremendous, highly skilled workforce that will meet and exceed the high standards of a company making the strongest and most durable powder metal products on the market. They will also contribute greatly to our continued economic growth. I’d like to thank NETWORKS Sullivan Partnership and the Hawkins County Industrial Development Board and staff for bringing another outstanding industry into our county,” Jim Lee said.
