In a now-familiar refrain from a liberal politician, Nashville Mayor David Briley is politicizing a mass shooting and calling for shredding the Second Amendment.
Briley tweeted, “Seven dead and 20 injured in a shooting rampage in TX. 10 teens injured by gunfire at a football game in AL. All since Friday afternoon. Enough is enough — @GovBillLee and our legislature must pass commonsense gun reform now. All of our lives depend on it.”

The first of the two situations the Nashville mayor was inserting himself into was the Saturday shooting in the Odessa and Midland, Texas communities. The shootings left at least seven dead and 22 injured, NBC News said. The gunman died in a shootout with police.
The second incident involved the shooting of nine people at a high school football game Friday in Mobile, Alabama, NPR said.
Following recent mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton, Gov. Lee and Lt. Gov. Randy McNally basically said the state may examine current gun laws instead of passing new legislation, WKRN said.
“The carry permit laws and look at purchase of weapons and look at things like red-flag legislation,” McNally listed as issues that might be up for debate.
Briley is no stranger to sounding the alarm against this constitutionally protected right.
He was one of more than 200 mayors from around the nation in early August who sent a letter to U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), urging them to immediately call the Senate back to Washington, D.C. to take action on gun control legislation, The Tennessee Star reported. That was in response to the El Paso and Dayton shootings.
The other Tennessee mayors were Madeline Anne Rogero of Knoxville and Andy Berke of Chattanooga.
And in April 2018, when he was acting mayor, Briley called for more gun control measures after 29-year-old Travis Reinking allegedly shot and killed four people at a Waffle House in Antioch, The Star said.
“We need comprehensive gun reform to address mass shootings, domestic shootings, accidental shootings, and homicides,” Briley said in a statement he read at a press conference.
“For a moment, let’s be honest about what happened. Last night, innocent Nashvillians were terrorized by a man with an AR-15. Let’s be honest. Some people see these weapons as having a purpose of terrorizing other people. It’s happening too much. Enough is enough,” Briley concluded.

Between that statement on guns and today’s statement on illegal’s my vote today for Cooper felt even better. Will he be any better? Who knows. I have my concerns, but the responsible citizens of this city need to wake up and stop this liberal socialist agenda in our city. We are rapidly becoming like those arm pit cities , Detroit, Chicago, New York City and San Francisco.

Sure. This weasel is doing everything to protect illegals in Nashville, crime is up and now he wants more gun control for its legal gun-owning citizens. That about sums up the left, today. This guy can’t be bounced out of the mayor’s office soon enough. I hear there’s an opening for the overnight manager’s shift at Shake Shack. Only a “Constitutional Amendment” can change the Constitution.
Any other method “Authorizes” citizens to use those gun against the Politicians,
and to do so without “Penalty”.

Politicians best find out what the Constitution says and means before they cause more shooting.
First I have to say that, of course, these acts of senseless violence are unacceptable. But the solution is not to penalize the many for the misdeeds of the few. Which of course is the Liberal answer to everything. Where is the MSM and Liberal indignation for the nonstop killing that takes place daily in Chicago, or any of the other large metropolitan areas that are controlled by politicians who belong to the Democratic Party? They don’t want to air their dirty laundry. Chicago and California have some of the strictest gun laws in the nation which do nothing to stop the senseless violence. In the Liberal utopian world, if everyone (including all of the violent criminals) who had any guns turned them all in, we would all live happily ever after. But, reality is another story that they would rather pretend doesn’t exist. Gun confiscation will only put the lives of innocent individuals at risk, because criminals will use whatever tools they can find, guns they already illegally possess, hammers, baseball bats, knives, their fists, to inflict physical harm to others.
Then there’s the current clambering, “no one needs to own an assault rifle!”. The only people who subscribe to that line are people who know nothing about shooting sports.
How about “universal background checks”? Completely unenforceable without mandatory firearms registration. Which, if you know anything about 20th century world history, has been the precursor to the takeover of countries by very bad people leading to the killing of uncountable numbers of innocent people. Make no mistake, this same thing could happen to America.
The Left, backed up by their United Nation puppet masters, will stop at nothing to disarm America, even if it takes fifty years or more. The Founding Fathers must have had a time machine because so many of the protections and freedoms written into the Constitution are currently being threatened by the Left. One of the best actions taken by President Trump has been to fill as many vacant judicial positions with centrist/conservative judges. In the future they may be the last line of defense against the socialist scourge that is attempting to take over America. Now is the time that States need to declare themselves Second Amendment Sanctuary States, before the Left regains complete control of the government.
