Nashville Mayor John Cooper to Reinstate Mask Mandate for City Buildings

Nashville Mayor John Cooper announced on Wednesday that he will reinstate a mask mandate for all Metro Government buildings beginning Thursday.

The move will require all Metro employees and members of the public to wear a face covering, regardless of the individual’s vaccination status.

In ordering the new regulation, Cooper continued to urge residents to receive the coronavirus vaccine.

“Vaccinations are our best tool for ending the pandemic. If you’ve been on the sidelines, waiting, now is your time to get vaccinated. Our Public Health Department has a vaccine waiting for you so you can protect your health and your family’s health,” Mayor Cooper said in the statement.

Cooper’s move to reinstate the mask mandate follows a host of city and state officials across the country who have made the same move — including in school districts.

In response to Cooper’s new mandate, Metro Nashville Public Schools Director Adrienne Battle called for new masking guidelines for the school district.

“As a result of the alarming rise in COVID-19 cases and spread of the delta variant, the recommendations from the CDC and AAP, along with the Mayor’s new mask mandate for Metro facilities, it would be my recommendation to the Board that we adopt a universal mask policy, indoors and on buses, for the start of the 2021-22 school year in order to keep our student, staff, and their families as safe as possible,” Battle said.

However, House Speaker Cameron Sexton (R-Crossville) warned of legislative action if school districts across the state elect to impose the requirements.

“I sure hope that school systems do not require a mask mandate for those students. If they do then I will ask the governor for a special session. If they close the schools then I will ask the governor for a special session,” Sexton said at a recent press conference.

so where’s the data showing masks actually do anything?

    ill wait

  4. Cooper’s lying goes back to last year when he said if hospitals hit 83% of capacity that big changes were coning. Turns out, the average capacity level at area hospitals is normally 87%. Hmmmm, like magic, everything started to close up. Good thing he has no control over the National Guard, cause things aren’t going to go the same way the next time he tries this stuff.

So, “spread of the delta variant” is the reason, huh? What test did you do that told you this? NONE, that’s what! There is NO test that will differentiate between covid, the flu, a cold or a delta variant! It’s ALL a LIE! The level of deceit in all of this is absolutely stunning. So many folks buying it hook, line and sinker! It’s a shame to see how ignorant people are in this world! Some of ya’ll need to pick up a book and READ the history that is nazism!

Hopefully people will not subject themselves to this ridiculous useless control grab for a second time. I do not work for metro , but I will not be wearing a mask nor will I be getting a jab. If either were effective rather than harmful , or if COVID was the threat that the government lies have tried to blow it up to be, I would do both. Masks are useless , jabs don’t work , and COVID data has been way over amplified – just like the PCR test.

Cooper is a continual BS liar, we have no way to verify his numbers on the Delta Variant, the Democrats are getting ready for the 2022 elections. They are going to wear this Covid out,.there is one thing about it wearing mask in Metro Buildings it will sure save a lot of lives. Cooper and his Democrat Chinese Communist scum are at it again, it worked in the last election for them so they are trying again. I despise Cooper, the lying POS!
