Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Phil Bredesen has led to a lot of flaming online – and Bredesen is receiving some of the backblast for attempting to be hip while in turn flaming Marsha Blackburn.
Swift endorsed the Democratic Senate candidate on Instagram while also blasting U.S. Representative Marsha Blackburn (R-TN-07), Bredesen’s opponent.
Swift said of Blackburn, “As much as I have in the past and would like to continue voting for women in office, I cannot support Marsha Blackburn. Her voting record in Congress appalls and terrifies me.” (emphasis added)
Bredesen tweeted, “.@VoteMarsha, look what you made her do. @taylorswift13 doesn’t like your little games and she wants Tennesseans to know that you’ve been in the swamp long enough. It’s time for some fresh air up in Washington.”

The 74-year-old former Tennessee governor was referencing Swift’s popular song “Look What You Made Me Do,” which has been interpreted as an attack against her enemies, including Kanye West.
Twitchy, a conservative Twitter curation and news website, compiled a list of social media users flaming Bredesen for his attempt to be hip. The website itself didn’t hold back, saying Bredesen may have erased any help Swift gave him.
The site also said, “Taylor Swift wading into the political fray is the gift that keeps on giving. Giving us a headache, that is. We would’ve been really happy for this whole thing to fade away. Instead, we get this,” and goes on to show some of the hilarious tweets:

No, Phil. Just no. Delete this tweet and campaign your behind off. Good luck.

Bredesen could ask President Donald Trump for social media advice, as the 72-year-old Commander In Chief has mastered the art of Twitter, making him the exception that proves the rule about older people needing to stay off social media.
