On Friday’s Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 am to 8:00 am – Leahy spoke with Laurie Cardoza-Moore President and founder of Proclaiming Justice to the Nations about the continued anti-Semitic activity at UT Knoxville that’s gone conveniently unnoticed by the chancellors. Moore explained how many textbooks are teaching a false narrative about 9-11 and the Jewish people which is creating a violation of civil rights for those Jewish students.
Towards the end of the segment, Moore revealed the two co-sponsors for her anti-Semitism Awareness Act in the state of Tennessee and advocated for a federal investigation of college campuses where anti-Semitic incidences occur.
Leahy: And we are joined now on our newsmaker line by our very good friend Laurie Cardoza-Moore founder of Proclaiming Justice to the Nations. Welcome, Laurie.
Moore: Good morning. Thank you for having me on the program again this morning.
Leahy: We always are happy to have you on here Laurie. And you know you started Proclaiming Justice to the Nations just a few days after the original 9-11 attacks in 2001. Tell us a little bit about how you got started.
Moore: Absolutely. It was actually six months after 9-11 we introduced a resolution here in the state of Tennessee. It was the first resolution to support the state of Israel in her war on terror. We knew and understood what Israel was dealing with on a daily basis. Of course, that was during the time of the second where there were bombs being blown up.
Restaurants being blown up by terrorists, an Islamic extremist who felt like this was their only way of retaliating against the Jewish people because they were supposedly occupying their land. Of course, we know historically the Jews have been there for almost 4,000 years and of course, here we are in the Bible belt. We should know our biblical history.
And unfortunately, we have incidents that are continuing to grow not just around the world, anti-Semitic incidences but now right here in our own state. Of course, it’s been going on for quite some time. We sent a message in Tennessee in our state legislature representing we the people of the citizens of this great state have communicated through our legislature that we will not tolerate anti-Semitism. So, Michael, it’s sad to see what’s happening. The whole incident at UT Knoxville that happened on 9-11.
Leahy: So tell us about that. The University of Tennessee at Knoxville on September 11th last week there was an anti-Semitic incident there? Tell us about that.
Moore: Well, this is not the first time that there have been vandals who have anti-Semites have used the rock at UT campus to express their antisemitic views and their hatred. And once again on 9-11, there was, spray-painted on the campus rock that the Jews were behind 9-11. So this is not new.
We’ve heard this rhetoric before and of course, it goes back to the protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion which is a document which was published back in the 1800’s that was false. In fact, there was a Russian civil court who publicly even stated that the protocols were a fraud. And it communicates the same narrative that the Jewish bankers control all the wealth.
The Jews are to be blamed for every activity that’s going. Every evil activity that’s going on. And of course, we saw that communicated. Now they’re saying 9-11 was an inside job. I cannot tell you, Michael, how many emails I’ve gotten from people who have said, “You need to do more research. It’s the Jews behind 9-11.” You’ve got to be kidding me that people even think this.
Leahy: Well it’s about what real and what’s true. And what’s honest and what’s real history and what’s not real history. By the way, you have a great area of research in common with our interest in the curriculum in schools. You’re seeing textbooks telling false history. Describe that a little bit to us.
Moore: So back in 2012 here in Tennessee, we found an anti-Semitic quote that legitimized Palestinians blowing themselves up in a Jerusalem restaurant because they were raging a war against Israeli government policies and army actions. That led to an all-out nationwide explosion in parents contacting us when we went on Fox News and told the story.
We were getting phone calls and emails from parents all over the country because they were making their kids bring their textbooks home and they were finding similar content in their children textbooks. We are omitting important parts of history. We’re promoting anti-Semitic narratives. Like with 9-11, we just celebrated 9-11.
If parents who are listening would make their kids bring their textbooks home or if their kids’ textbooks are digital, get the password to review the content. Especially history and what they’re teaching about 9-11. They are omitting important aspects of what happened on 9-11. We know what happened on 9-11.
We were hit by Islamic terrorists. These were Muslims who were from Saudi Arabia who had a radical ideology. They hated America because we stand with Israel. And we were attacked by those Islamist’s. That’s not being communicated to our children. We’re just telling our children that terrorists hit us that day.
We don’t tell who the terrorists were. What their ideology was and why we as Americans condemn that activity. We have Congresswomen who are reinforcing this false narrative as well in their anti-Semitic comments. Ilhan Omar earlier this year when she referencing 9-11.
Leahy: Somebody did something somewhere.
Moore: Somebody did something.
Leahy: Good grief.
Moore: Exactly. But this is being communicated to our children and is why we are losing our country. And it’s why once again in Tennessee we’re going to reintroduce in January the anti-Semitism Awareness Act. We’re going to adopt the definition, God willing with the state legislature and governor Lee who says he’s very pro-Israel and is against antisemitism.
But we’re introducing this legislation so that we have a clearly defined definition of what antisemitism is so when these incidences occur on our college campuses and communities we can charge these students. Because what’s happening on UT they have cameras. They have to know who these kids are. And they can’t tell me they keep coming up with these statements.
They condemn these activities that repeatedly happen on their campus. We just had earlier this year an incident at Vanderbilt. We can’t just listen to the chancellors say, “Oh, we condemn this and we’re going to deal with it.” They don’t deal with it. We’ve reached out to the chancellor at UT in the past asking if we could screen our documentary.
Boycott this to talk about what is happening in Israel because there is a false narrative. They are accusing Israel of occupying that land. And that land belongs to the Jewish people. Our kids are not being educated about that history. Whether you use the Bible or not the Jews have been there for almost 4,000 years.
Leahy: Will you come back on our program and talk about when you have a sponsor for the anti-Semitism Act in the state legislature. I know you are kind of sophisticated in how you understand and work with the members of the general assembly on it. But when you are ready to announce your co-sponsors of that will you come back on the program?
Moore: Absolutely. In fact, we do have the sponsors already.
Leahy: Oh, you do?
Moore: Yes.
Leahy: Are you willing to share with our audience right now who the co-sponsors are?
Moore: Absolutely.
Leahy: Breaking news here. Who are the co-sponsors of the anti-Semitism Act?
Moore: Senator Gresham will be introducing it in the senate. She has been a huge advocate of dealing with anti-semitism on college campuses. And representative Mark White who is the chairman of the education committee. He’s going to be introducing it in the House.
Leahy: Oh sure.
Moore: He’s going to be introducing it in the House. They’ve seen this problem. This is not the first time we’ve had to deal with it. We introduced this legislation at the beginning of this year but were unable to pass it because of obstructions. This is a problem in our state legislature. We must confront this issue.
We had hearings on it last year and the President the University of UT who said there wasn’t a problem with anti-Semitism on the campuses, used his private jet to fly a group of students from UT to testify in the hearings in the state legislature. And all these students got up and said, “There is no there there. We don’t have a problem with anti-Semitism.” Hello? We see repeated incidences of what happens on the rock.
And what I want to know from the chancellor of UT Knoxville, where is the footage from the cameras on the campus? Because they’re all over the campus. And we want to know who these kids are. Because you know what? The Jewish students at UT, they need to sue UT Knoxville. They need to sue them because they’re civil rights are being violated.
The Civil Rights Act states that even if a Jewish student does not feel safe on their campus, and you know the Jewish students no longer feel safe there, that their civil rights have been violated. And a federal investigation needs to be launched against UT Knoxville, Vanderbilt University, and other campuses where these incidences occur.

Wait a minute! Are you implying that anybody who criticizes Israel’s persecution against Palestinians is anti-Semitic? The harshest critics of Netenyahu’s Israeli policies against Palestinians and non-whites (including Jews who are non-white) are Jewish people themselves. Conversely, the strongest supporters of Israel’s racist Zionist policies are fundamentalist so-called Christians who THEMSELVES are very anti-Semitic. The only reasons that Christian fundamentalists support Israel so stridently is to use Israel as a dumping ground for Jewish refugees and to force these Jews to convert themselves to a fundamentalist brand of extreme Christianity. Many of these Zionists (including various Israeli regimes) have supported openly anti-Semitic dictators in the name of anti-Communism and Islamophobia. Case in point: Israel during the early 1980’s supported the violent anti-Jewish Argentine regime of Galtieri whose horrible human rights record even included some Israeli victims who made the mistake of traveling to Argentina at that time. Jacom Timmerman was probably the most prominent Israeli to fall victim to this dictatorship to suffer disappearance and torture. He wrote an account of his suffering in PRISONER WITHOUT A NAME; CELL WITHOUT A NUMBER. While he considered himself a strong Israeli patriot, he wasted no time in criticizing the Israeli government’s support for anti-Semitic and even Nazi-sympathizing governments. These regimes included not only pre-1982 Argentina but other regimes like the then apartheid regime in South Africa that relied heavily on pro-Nazi elements to achieve power back in the Spring of 1948. For his criticisms, the Israeli government falsely accused him of anti-Semitism.
If Cardoza-Moore is serious about fighting anti-Semitism, instead of wasting time on leftist human rights activists, all she has to do is to investigate the various white supremacist and religious fundamentalist groups. She will find far more anti-Semites there than in any leftist group at my alma mater, the University of Tennessee–Knoxville. Redirect your priorities!
