Rashida Tlaib Wears T-Shirt That Erases Israel from the Map

Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI-13) recently posted a picture of herself wearing a T-shirt that erases Israel from the map.

The freshman congresswoman posted the picture to her Facebook account while promoting Linda Sarsour’s new book, called “We Are Not Here to Be Bystanders.”

“Celebrating International Women’s Day with this bad boy. I can’t wait to learn all about your business Linda Sarsour,” said Tlaib. “On a serious note, I wouldn’t want to be in this fight with anyone else. I know I will draw strength from reading and learning about your journey.”

The T-shirt Tlaib is wearing in the photo depicts Israel covered in Arabic letters that spell “Palestine,” the Washington Examiner confirmed. The shirt also portrays Israel as being draped in a keffiyeh, a black and white checkered scarf that has become a symbol of Palestinian nationalism.

After being sworn into Congress, Tlaib posed with a painting of herself that showed a keffiyeh wrapped around the United States Capitol Building.

“Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib’s T-shirt doesn’t exactly scream ‘two-state solution,’” said Alex VanNess, a fellow at the Endowment for Middle East Truth.

Sarsour has a well-documented history of anti-Semitism and was removed from her leadership role in the Women’s March last year because of it. The controversial activist has praised the Muslim Brotherhood and defended Sharia law in various tweets.

In 2011, she thanked the Muslim Brotherhood for throwing a great party and called them the “coolest.” In other cases, she has attempted to normalize Sharia law by pointing out that women get “10 weeks of paid maternity leave in Saudi Arabia.”

“You’ll know when you’re living under Sharia law if suddenly all your loans and credit cards become interest free. Sounds nice, doesn’t it?” she said in one tweet. She also claimed that “Sharia law is reasonable and once [you] read into the details it makes a lot of sense.”

The Women’s March of Minnesota announced last year that it had severed ties with the national organization because of its failure to address allegations of anti-Semitism.

“I love her. Even the congresswoman got my book, did you?” Sarsour said in response to Tlaib’s post.
