U.S. Representative Tim Burchett (R-TN-02), who launched and remains co-chair of the Congressional Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Caucus, said on Wednesday that the unidentified drones spotted in December flying over New Jersey, Virginia and other states along the eastern seaboard, are likely a “test” from China, dismissing claims the drones are part of an American program to find radioactive materials.
Burchett made the remarks during his appearance on the Wednesday episode of the “What’s The Biggs Idea” podcast hosted by Representative Andy Biggs (R-AZ-05), telling his colleague the drones likely originated in China, and that the United States likely “failed” whatever test the foreign government posed.
“I don’t think these are something from outer space,” said Burchett. “Every one of these has Chinese componentry, and the Chinese are watching us. I believe it’s a test.”
He told Biggs, “Our president, executive office, failed that test. Our military failed that test, and our media, frankly, they kind of poo-pooed it and made fun of people,” while Americans have largely stopped paying attention to the drone sightings.
“Nobody’s talking about drones anymore, and it’s still a serious issue, because one of those is going to get sucked into a jet airplane engine, and we’re going to have a plane down with one of those,” said Burchett.
Burchett also dismissed the theory claiming the drones were scanning for radioactive material, confirming the government is not missing any materials that could be considered weapons-grade.
The Tennessee Republican told Biggs, “Some of the talk was that they were some government entity checking for radiation, because we missed all this uranium or something. The reality was, the stuff that’s missing was medical grade, it’s not military grade, so that’s out of the question.”
First referencing the Chinese spy balloon that flew across the continental United States in 2023, Burchett noted that Chinese spies have been busted as chauffeurs, associates, and romantic interests of both U.S. Senators and House Representatives, before suggesting the drones were likely an attempt by China to test how America would respond.
According to Burchett, the country failed through its inaction under President Joe Biden.
“Now, what did Donald J. Trump say? Shoot them down, I’ll shoot them down,” said Burchett.
“There’s a reason why these things don’t fly over East Tennessee,” he continued, stating that citizens of the Volunteer State, “would have dropped them like a bad habit. If those things had come around, we would have shot them down.”
The congressman also told Biggs that the drones continue to fly over American states despite the media frenzy about their activities subsiding.
Burchett told his colleague, “I would warn people, the drones are still out there and they’re still flying, but our media for whatever reason is not covering it anymore. We better get a grip on it, because that is a component of the next war that we will fight.”
While the drones were first spotted in New Jersey, sightings quickly spread as far south as Virginia, where the Virginia State Police confirmed 150 reported drone sightings in December.

” … likely a “test” from China, dismissing claims the drones are part of an American program to find radioactive materials.”
Doubtful. Any professional adversary would plan a “drone intrusion” for specific goals.
Whatever it was, it did change the news reporting cycle, at a crucial time for the illegitimate Biden administration.
