Report: State Senator Mark Green ‘Could Withdraw This Week’ As President Trump’s Army Secretary Nominee

Tennessee Star

“President Trump’s pick for Army secretary could withdraw from consideration as early as this week, according to a report, following a slew of accusations from liberal groups over comments he’s made regarding LGBT issues and Islam,” the Washington Examiner reported on Thursday morning:

Sources close to the nomination process believe Tennessee state Sen. Mark Green may not have enough support from Republicans and Democrats to be confirmed, CNN reported.

Green, a conservative Christian, is under increasing fire from the political Left over past statements opposing gay marriage, transgender bathroom rights and teaching Islam in public schools.

On Monday, Rep. Steny Hoyer, D-Md., the No. 2 Democrat in the House, called his past statements “disgusting” and joined 31 fellow Democrats in urging the Senate to reject the nomination for what they called a history of homophobia and transphobia.

“Republicans, meanwhile, have been mostly silent on the issue. Sen. John McCain, in a brief interview with USA Today, said he was bothered by Green’s past statements,” the Examiner reported.

Should Green (R-Clarksville) withdraw, he would likely consider entering the race for the GOP nomination for Governor in Tennessee in 2018, where he would immediately become the conservative front runner.

Two other candidates, businessman Randy Boyd of Knoxville and businessman Bill Lee of Franklin, have already announced their candidacies for the GOP nomination.

Boyd, a former member of Gov. Haslam’s cabinet, is considered to be a Democrat running in the GOP primary by most conservatives, and Lee has largely run a substance free campaign, though he did call Gov. Haslam’s unpopular tax gas increase “water under the bridge” when he announced, alienating many conservative primary voters.

Thank-you, Dr. Green, for your willingness to serve America. Once again, we, the people, hear the “roars” of the Wicked Swamp. They make themselves guilty before Almighty God and He see their works of darkness and at just the time when they think not, God Almighty will reward them openly for the works of darkness.
You just keep, keeping on for Americanism, God and Country, be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the works of God, and KNOW your labors are not in vain.
If God be for US, who can be against US. They will rue the day they violated their Oath of Office before God Almighty for they are fools and it is written, “God takes no pleasure in fools”.
    For God & Country

I asked Sen. Green about this yesterday. Response was short and to the point! NSDQ-Night Stalkers Don’t Quit!
