Representative Jim Cooper (D-TN-05) will release a bill next week proposing the expulsion of Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA-14). Cooper jumped to co-sponsor the resolution to expel Greene promised by Representative Jimmy Gomez (D-CA-34) after a sampling of Greene’s old social media posts were published by the media in spades.
Cooper made the announcement in a Twitter post on Thursday, claiming that “she’s a danger to the House [and] to the country.”
I’ve joined my colleagues to address ongoing concerns about GA GOP @RepMTG. We’ve requested she be removed from the @EdLaborCmte & be censured. I’ve also co-sponsored a bill to expel her from the House & it will be intro’d next week. She’s a danger to the House & to the country. https://t.co/UOVGo7mZEc

Cooper had retweeted a letter from Representative Jahana Hayes (D-CT-05) requesting the censorship of Greene and her removal from the Education and Labor Committee.
The responses from within the Democratic ranks came after past remarks made by Greene – including references to violence against politicians and criticism of school shooting politics – resurfaced. Democrats also widened their scope of criticism, calling the freshman congresswoman a racist and conspiracy theorist based on other past statements.
Greene responded to the expulsion bill in a post of her own, though she didn’t mention Cooper or Gomez by name. Instead, she rallied for support.
Greene also alleged in a lengthy Twitter thread that the media failed to recognize the plethora of posts concurrent to the controversial ones. These posts depicted an entirely different side to Greene contradicting some of the allegations raised against her, including expressed love for famed Black poet Maya Angelou and body positivity.
Since the media wants to define me by my old social media posts, then why won’t they run breaking news stories on these old post of mine?
Is it bc they don’t fit the narrative?@CNN @politico @ajc @nytimes @FoxNews @AOC @SpeakerPelosi @HillaryClinton @JimmyGomezCA pic.twitter.com/4RgJIYyZg7

The hubbub over Greene’s past social media engagements as highlighted by the mainstream media doesn’t appear to have diminished her value in the eyes of her constituents or national supporters. According to Greene, her campaign account flooded with donations totaling over $1.6 million and messages from nearly 60,000 individuals expressing their support.
“Contributions of $.50 or a $100 are significant statements of support, but the heartfelt prayers and encouraging messages telling me to keep standing strong against the mob are what’s most significant to me,” wrote Greene. “I will never back down. I will never give up. Because I am one of you. And I will always represent you. I take all of these slings and arrows gladly for you.”
Neither Cooper’s or Greene’s spokespersons responded to a request for comment.

Once again, I point out that HE HAD NO ONE RUNNING AGAINST HIM IN NOVEMBER 2020! You know that old line about “All evil needs to flourish”?
As to the article, I don’t think it’s the power of Congress to abolish a duly elected member. I think only the voters of Georgia’s 14 district can recall her.
Of course, we’re looking at a party that is trying to impeach a private citizen for doing what several Representatives and at least one Senator has done, so who knows?
I believe the better choice would be to expel Cooper! He’s been in politics far too long and is out of touch with true Americans!
I find it interesting that the voters elected her, and the democrats think they can un-elect her.
Misogynist !
Someone needs to find a safe place for him before he hurts himself. I recommend California.
He’d be right at home here in MA…but in return TN would have to take Elizabeth Warren (aka Pocahantas) andr Ed Markey off our backs. Do we have a deal?
More NAZIfication of America. Ominous Parallels was a great book delving into this philosophical decay. We are there for sure. I attribute it to Europeans bringing with them Plato and Marx. America was founded on the Scottish Enlightenment. No more.
The Dems feel free to be themselves now that there is a bill to do away with meaningful elections. They will no longer have to grovel to the voters, particularly those people with extra chromosomes (he said this about SC people but we know what he meant). They are now trying to get rid of the last true conservatives that are left. RINOs will be allowed to stay, they need to be able to point to “bi-partisans” like Romney.
Poor Congressman Copper….he has not done one thing for his contingents in Nashville and surrounding counties. Not one! He needs to stay in his lane and stop his hatred for all those that disagree. Simple minded. Sen. Copper , hate is a destructive mistress!
