Live from Music Row Monday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. –  host Leahy welcomed the founder of Pajamas Media Roger Simon to the studio to discuss the media’s changing landscape and claims that it is upon a revolution as people search for other outlets.
Leahy: I’ll start with you Roger who is the columnist for The Epoch Times and the founder of Pajamas Media. Roger, what will the media landscape look like going forward?
Simon: Because we are in a flexing point in our country right now with two countries essentially and there are new media companies growing like crazy. For example, The Epoch Times where I work just went to the number one download app for newspapers. That’s above The New York Times and above The Washington Post. I’m very happy to say that. But that means that there is a hunger for something very different.
So if you are out there and haven’t downloaded the app yet go do it. You can subscribe to The Epoch Times in three different ways. Online, through the app, or through the mail. And the reasons these things are happening is some of the normal center right organs such as The New York Post, Fox News, and even The Wall Street Journal have become infected by the left. And they are changing in front of our eyes. New ones are rising up. The other interesting thing that’s rising up is “Parler.”
Leahy: The alternative to Twitter.
Simon: The alternative to Twitter which is now rising above Twitter on the app downloads.
Carmichael: Let me ask you a question about The New York Post. The New York Post came out with the Hunter Biden story.
Simon: That’s true.
Carmichael: And they got spiked completely. So why do you say…
Simon: The Murdoch sons are not the same as the Senior Murdoch.
Leahy: And they own The New York Post.
Carmichael: I did not know that.
Simon: Murdoch Senior gave to his sons The New York Post, The Wall Street Journal, and Fox News which all operate out of one building in Manhattan. And they are all sort of gradually changing. And the current COVID gave them an excuse. I think what you refer to in the Bobulinski story that broke in The New York Post. I think it’s amazing that they did a left turn within days of publishing that. I mean everybody was like what’s happened? It’s hidden now.
Leahy: I think you are exactly right. And back to your question Crom. It seems to me that the Murdoch children are lefties and they hate the base of Fox News. They hate those people and they are shifting Fox News and The Wall Street Journal you see as well to a degree.
Carmichael: The Wall Street Journal news section is very left. It really is. It just tilts everything left. The opinion section is still and is much more ‘conservative.’
Leahy: But you are going to be looking for those guys to exit I think.
Simon: If you watch these things carefully you see strange changes in those areas. And of course, on Fox News, you’ve got the question of how is Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham going to continue in this. There is a lot of, when are they going to leave?
Leahy: If I were a betting person which I’m not, but if I were a betting person I would bet that none of those people will be broadcasting on Fox on December 31st, 2021. That would be my guess.
Simon: I wouldn’t bet against you.
Carmichael: Yes, because Tucker is actually building his own brand.
Leahy: A huge brand.
Carmichael: Unlike Megyn Kelly. Megyn Kelly was a popular personality on Fox but when she left Fox…
Leahy: She did not have a brand.
Carmichael: Her viewers did not follow her to NBC. Tucker Carlson’s viewers if he were to be hired and were to be on TV in exactly the same time slot would…
Leahy: They would all go to him.
Carmichael: They would all go to him on a new channel.
Simon: Now the sad truth is that Tucker was number one on cable and justifiably so. He’s a friend, so I can say that. The other part is that his numbers went down too because people were deserting Fox like bang and going over to Newsmax. We are in a media revolution going on right this very minute.
Leahy: And we at the Tennessee Star, although it’s bad for the country however for the Tennessee Star, The Ohio Star, The Michigan Star, The Virginia Star, The Minnesota Sun, and now on Wednesday, The Georgia Star News – it’s great for us. We went into Georgia and everybody on the Republican side who is MAGA oriented is being interviewed with our affiliate down there at The John Fredericks Radio Network.
Simon: It’s the right time.
Leahy: For our news, it looks great.
Carmichael: We just need the Republicans to hold the Senate otherwise every conservative media outlet will be in trouble.
Leahy: I think you are probably right.
Carmichael: Not from the prospect of demand of the consumer, but from the government.
Simon: Yes. They go for the throat and they are not nice people.
Carmichael: Well they are tyrants. They are tyrants.
Simon: They believe the end justifies the means.
Leahy: Right now the 117th Congress and U.S. Senate will be 50 Republicans and 48 Democrats if the Democrats win these two special elections between David Perdue and “Pajama Boy” John Ossoff. And the other one Kelly Loeffler versus Raphael Warnock who said White people should repent of their Whiteness. That guy. But if the Democrats win both of those the Senate is 50/50. And if Joe Biden is inaugurated and Kamala Harris becomes Vice President she’s the tiebreaker. We lose the Senate.
Carmichael: No. We lose everything.
Leahy: Which means it’s all in Georgia between now and January fifth. And it looks problematic right now Roger.
Simon: Yes. I’d say. It’s not simple. And as of right now, the two Democratic candidates are especially bad although all democratic candidates are pretty bad at this point.
Carmichael: It’s the cheating. And one of the questions is the Secretary of State in Georgia entered into a consent decree to change the rules of the election and the Secretary of State does not have that authority.
Leahy: Lin Wood has filed suit against the Secretary of State and the Governor on that. But we can’t resolve that issue today.
