Sen. Blackburn Hammers FBI, DOJ After Mar-a-Lago Raid

A U.S. senator from Tennessee is speaking out against the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and its parent agency, the Department of Justice (DOJ), after the FBI Monday raided former President Donald J. Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home in Palm Beach, Florida.

“Bill and Hillary Clinton took $28,000 worth of furnishings from the White House, and Obama violated the Presidential Records Act,” Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) told The Tennessee Star Tuesday. Yet the FBI did not raid their homes. This is a political witch hunt, and partisan federal prosecutions will only increase now that the Democrats just voted to give the IRS 87,000 more agents. If the DOJ can target President Trump, imagine what they will do to anyone who dares support him. I stand with President Trump.”

She echoed similar sentiments on Twitter from Monday evening into Tuesday.

“Why are the FBI and DOJ refusing to comment after raiding the private home of a former U.S. President? The American people demand transparency — they do not want another political witch hunt of President Trump. We need to know if Joe Biden or his allies were involved,” she said.

Later, she slammed the raid as “outrageous.”

“I stand with President Trump against this outrageous action of the FBI,” she tweeted.

In another tweet, she recalled that the DOJ under former President Barack Obama spied on Trump’s 2016 election campaign.

“The Obama FBI began spying on President Trump as a candidate. This isn’t how a justice system should operate, and it should outrage every American. If they can do this to Trump, they will do it to you!” she wrote.

She continued blasting the federal law enforcement agency, and also mentioned that, through the recently passed Inflation Reduction Act, the Biden administration vastly increased the size and scope of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

“The FBI’s raid of President Trump’s home is a political witch hunt, and partisan federal prosecutions will only increase now that the Democrats just voted to give the IRS 87,000 more agents,” she said in another tweet.

She continued on Tuesday afternoon.

“The FBI flew agents from Washington, D.C. to Mar-a-Lago for the sole purpose of advancing the bureau’s years-long campaign to take down President Trump,” she said.

The news of the raid has outraged the political right, which has largely viewed the move as a political one.

The DOJ is directly controlled by the Biden administration, and Trump could run against Biden to re-claim the presidency in 2024.

Thank you Senator Blackburn! Please file legislation to abolish the FBI! They have become totally politicized! Please file legislation to create a new agency with At Will employees! Civil Service has become an excuse to not terminate bad employees! Please file legislation to decentralize the federal government from Washington Dc swamp to the midwest. There is too much power and corruption centralized in Washington. Finally to combat the Biden Police State hiring 87,000 new IRS employees, How about filing legislation for a 10% flat tax. A flat tax will increase compliance with reporting and simplify the IRS filing process. We will not need to keep all the new IRS agents.
