Members of a Davidson County Grand Jury have indicted a six-person robbery crew allegedly linked to 150 holdups of primarily Latino families throughout Nashville between 2017 and 2019.
According to a press release, grand jurors indicted these six individuals on 126 criminal counts.
Steve Hayslip, spokesman for Metro Nashville District Attorney Glenn Funk, who represents the state, told The Tennessee Star Monday that no hate crimes charges are expected.
“The indictments stem from 29 violent robberies in which victims were frequently subjected to beatings, even while cooperating,” according to the press release.
“The armed suspects would often make entry into apartment homes through unlocked sliding glass doors. These 29 cases were selected for prosecution in conjunction with the District Attorney’s Office due to the strength of evidence and committed assistance from victims. It is estimated that this crew is responsible for robbing the victims of $150,000 in cash and personal belongings, such as cell phones.”
According to the press release, those indicted are:
• Montez Brown, 27, with ties to Clarksville and Nashville, the suspected leader of the group, who has remained in custody since December 2019 on related aggravated robbery and weapon charges. Brown is facing a total of 62 counts of aggravated robbery, seven counts of aggravated burglary, 37 weapon counts, and three counts of aggravated assault.
• Anthony Campbell III, 27, with ties to Clarksville and Nashville, who has remained in custody since August 2019 on related aggravated robbery charges. He faces a total of four counts of aggravated robbery, one count of aggravated burglary, and one weapon count.
• Tevin Kelly, 27, of Nashville, who was taken into custody on the indictment Thursday and who possessed a loaded semi-automatic pistol at the time of his apprehension. Kelly has been indicted on one count of aggravated robbery, with additional charges against him anticipated.
• Nathan Rosenthal Jr., 30, of Nashville, who was taken into custody Thursday. Rosenthal has been indicted on four counts of aggravated robbery, one count of aggravated burglary, and two weapon counts.
• Quanisha Moore, 26, of Clarksville, who remains at large. She has been indicted on 10 counts of aggravated robbery.
• Demarrious Malone, 29, of Memphis, who also remains at large. He has been indicted on three counts of aggravated robbery.
“The investigation shows that at least some of the defendants used proceeds from the robberies to enhance their lifestyles with travel to the Dominican Republic, Miami, and Texas, and with purchases of jewelry, shoes and guns,” the press release said.
“The Midtown Hills Precinct’s investigative team led this investigation over the past four years, with assistance from the MNPD’s Specialized Investigations Division, the department’s El Protector Program, and the FBI.”
Hayslip said Monday that hate crimes are federal designations, and Tennessee has no similar state laws — although judges can increase sentences if they determine that criminals targeted a particular group based on race or ethnicity.

Tsk, tsk. If only they were white, Democrat mayors. They could have stolen a lot more, paid back a pittance and then have their records wiped clean if they only promised to be good.
Here is true victimization of a marginalized community- violence against folks all of one nationality. Go figure- the media is silent. If I recall many were here illegally and targeted because it is generally believed they would not go to the police.
Surely the illegals do not fear the Nashville police. Our “compassionate” leaders bow to their every whim.
Gee, and all this time we were told that white supremacists are the ones committing violence towards Latinos.
The COB needs to go into action , these charges could not be true I am sure they were all on their way to Sunday School. They just need viable employment maybe there will be openings at COB, Metro Schools and maybe Commie Cooper could use some new employees, what with all of his new property tax money. You know BLM could use this groups leadership also!
