Scoop: Nashville reported Tuesday that WSMV has ordered six employees to self-isolate for 14 days at home after they were potentially exposed to the coronavirus.
The potential exposure happened at a Country Music Television (CMT) telethon last Thursday, the station told Scoop: Nashville. CMT told the station that a person with a confirmed case of the virus was present when the six workers were there, but contact has not been confirmed. Two other workers had already left before the patient arrived.
None of WSMV’s staff are showing symptoms. WSMV told Scoop: Nashville it would disinfect the station for the next 48 hours.
The telethon in question could be the fundraiser held for tornado victims at CMT Studio in downtown Nashville. Nash Country Daily said the American Red Cross was also involved in the effort.
The event raised $385,000 in donations, The Music Universe said. Many musicians were present as well.
As of Tuesday evening, the station had not publicly announced the matter nor identified which workers were self-isolated.
WSMV is owned by Meredith Corp.
The Tennessee Department of Health on Tuesday evening once again began announcing county-by-county locations of confirmed coronavirus patients. Davidson, Sullivan and Shelby each had one, while Williamson has four, the department said in a press release.
