Suspects Remain Unidentified in Viral Video of Memphis Shooting

Three suspects in a brazen, broad daylight shooting murder remain unidentified days after a video of the shooting went viral online.

The video, shared widely online and viewed at least one million times, shows three men approaching a target with firearms drawn, firing bursts of rounds, and then running away.

The shooting occurred on Sunday.

Asked whether the suspects had been identified, Officer Theresa Carlson of the Memphis Police Department (MPD) Public Information Office directed The Tennessee Star to a Facebook post from Tuesday, saying that the suspects’ identities are not yet known.

“On Sunday, July 23, 2023, officers responded to a shooting in the 900 Block of N. McNeil Street, where they found a man who had been shot and was unresponsive. The man was later pronounced deceased at Regional One Hospital,” MPD said in the post. “The attached video shows three men shooting toward the victim just before the police were called. The identity of the suspects is unknown at this time.”

Police directed anyone with knowledge of the gunmen’s identity to call Crime Stoppers at (901) 528-CASH, and reminded tipsters that they will remain anonymous.

“If an arrest is made, you could be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $1000 from Crime Stoppers of Memphis and Shelby County, Inc.,” the post said.

Memphis has been a hotbed of violence, and two weeks ago made national news for another high-profile shooting.

A former patient shot and killed Dr. Benjamin Mauck at his Memphis office.

The suspect, 29-year-old Larry Pickens, was reportedly lying in wait for Mauck for hours before his arrival at the clinic. He was captured shortly after the shooting with the alleged murder weapon and empty magazines.

It was reported that Pickens threatened Mauck for at least a week before the shooting. His exact motive for the shooting remains unclear.

Pickens was charged with first-degree murder and is held on a $1.2 million bond.

If I may add, maybe State Rep. Justin Pearson could work a little harder to clean up his own backyard instead of working to take away my rights.

Let’s penalize law abiding Americans because of the inexcusable behavior of a minority of ignorant individuals.

So, it’ because of the inexcusable behavior of these kinds of sorry examples of human beings that the rest of us are supposed to just happily go along with the restrictions on our right to self defense.

Below is the perfect (and tragic) example of why gun laws don’t work.

These idiots were not supposes to be in possession of a firearm in the first place! So let’s pass more and more laws so stupid people can ignore them.
