Teens Against Gender Mutilation Rally in Murfreesboro Met with Counter Protesters

Turning Point USA (TPUSA) Faith Middle Tennessee & Rutherford County Chapter hosted a ‘Teens Against Gender Mutilation Rally’ outside Murfreesboro City Hall on Saturday which was met with counter protesters.

The rally hosted 18 year old de-transitioner Chloe Cole, who spoke about the dangers of subjecting minors to gender affirmation surgeries and procedures. At the age of 13, Cole was put on puberty blockers, and at the age of 15, she underwent a double mastectomy.

During Cole’s speech, counter protesters attempted to drown her out by beating on drums, blowing whistles, and yelling into megaphones.

The protesters were carrying signs that read slogans such as “Cis people are creepy,” “If you’re really ‘pro-life’ you would support trans healthcare,” “Nothing you do will stop us being trans,” and “Teens [love] drag shows.”

Following the rally, Cole tweeted that one protester called her a “traitor,” to which she commented, “saying the quiet part out loud.”

The online event platform Eventbrite seemingly opposed the rally as well, as the rally advertisement was removed from the site Friday evening for violating the platform’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service policy on “Hateful, Dangerous, or Violent Content and Events,” according to an email by the platform posted to Twitter by former Tennessee Republican congressional candidate Robby Starbuck.

In his tweet of the email from EventBrite, Starbuck asked, “What exactly is hateful, dangerous or violent about organizing a rally that opposes the mutilation of children and platform survivors like [Chloe Cole] @ChoooCole?”

The rally comes as a bill aimed at banning gender-affirming procedures for minors makes its way through the Tennessee legislature. The Protecting Children from Gender Mutilation Act (HB001/SB001) was introduced by Majority Leaders William Lamberth (R-Portland) and Jack Johnson (R-Franklin).

The bill was introduced in November of last year, after it was revealed that Vanderbilt University Medical Center was providing transgender surgeries to minors, as previously reported by The Tennessee Star. Following the revelation, many Tennessee lawmakers publicly called for legislation outlawing any transgender medical interventions for minors.
