Following outrage and legal action, Ticketmaster announced it would offer a second chance for a select number of fans to acquire tickets to Taylor Swift’s upcoming “Eras Tour”.
In November, as previously reported by The Tennessee Star, Ticketmaster announced that it suspended ticket sales for Swift’s tour after the site experienced an array of problems during its previous ticket presale event.

Now, Ticketmaster is apologizing to fans by offering another opportunity for tickets to be acquired. All “verified fans” – meaning those who previously entered a lottery to buy tickets for certain shows – will receive an individual invite to submit their purchase request before December 23rd. The new opportunity to request to purchase tickets is limited to two tickets, according to Ticketmaster.
“We apologize for the difficulties you may have experienced, and have been asked by Taylor’s team to create this additional opportunity for you to purchase tickets,” Ticketmaster wrote on its website and in an email to fans.
In response to the ticket fiasco, Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti originally said his office would investigate whether the company might have a monopoly on the ticket sales market and may be abusing its customers, delivering a low-quality product because it has little market competition.
With Ticketmaster offering fans another chance to acquire tickets, Skrmetti has released a new statement on the matter.
“While we hope legitimate fans will benefit from Ticketmaster’s effort to provide a second chance at Taylor Swift tickets, this is a short-term solution for a long-term problem,” Attorney General Skrmetti said in a statement on Wednesday. “The Tennessee Attorney General’s Office remains focused on finding a more lasting solution to Ticketmaster’s ongoing issues. Our Consumer Protection team continues to review an onslaught of complaints and gather evidence. We are working hard to deliver lasting change and a fair ticket-buying experience for all consumers.”
