Tennessee Republican Leaders React to Attorney General Garland’s Statement Approving Raid on Trump’s Home

U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland announced on Thursday that he approved the FBI raid on former President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home, and several Tennessee Republican leaders voiced their displeasure with both the raid and the attorney general’s role in it.

U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) called Garland’s personally approved search warrant “a politically-motivated witch hunt.”

“Democrats will use every tool at their disposal to ensure that they maintain control and power — including raiding the homes of their political opponents,” Blackburn added.

“Merrick Garland won’t prosecute the violent mob that protested against the Justices but will raid the home of a former President,” the senator said.

Blackburn additionally asked, “Will Merrick Garland personally approve a warrant to search Hunter Biden?”

U.S. Representative Mark Green (R-TN-7) tweeted on Friday, “Typical of the Biden administration. No questions taken, and no real substance. We must get real answers from AG Garland when he testifies before Congress.”

Green also called for Garland to testify before the U.S. Congress.

“AG Garland must testify before Congress—there are too many unanswered questions for such an unprecedented raid. The confidence of the American people is at stake,” he said.

Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs said Thursday after Garland’s press conference, “The rampant politization of every aspect of society is destroying public trust in all of our institutions.”

Garland, in his remarks, said that he approved the raid and didn’t do so lightly.

“First, I personally approved the decision to seek a search warrant in this matter. Second, the department does not take such a decision lightly. Where possible, it is standard practice to seek less intrusive means as an alternative to a search, and to narrowly scope any search that is undertaken,” said the attorney general.

“The search warrant was authorized by a federal court upon the required finding of probable cause. The property receipt is a document that federal law requires law enforcement agents to leave with the property owner. The department filed the motion to make public the warrant and receipt in light of the former president’s public confirmation with the search, the surrounding circumstances and the substantial public interest in this matter,” he additionally said.

Republicans hate to be called on their corruption and love spreading disinformation. Trump had the most corrupt administration in American history and republicans still defend him. It says tons about their intellect.

  2. John Bumpus

This kind of thing has been happening since President Trump first announced his campaign for the presidency in 2015 (i.e., the Russian Collusion Hoax, Impeachment no. 1, the Mueller Investigation, Impeachment no. 2, the January 6, 2021 ‘Investigation,’ and now the Mar-a-Lago Raid and the unending Democrat ‘explanation’ of why it was necessary for the Democrat DOJ and the ‘FBLie’ to do what they did). And what is difficult for me to understand is how Republicans can continue to be deceived by this constant, obviously organized and coordinated, massive dishonesty? (i.e., One thing that helps, of course, is that the leftists have the unlimited aid and assistance of the national ‘Democrat’ media—which is almost all of it—together with almost all of the national entertainment industry and academia.) But don’t Republicans EVER learn? How many times do these leftists have to LIE to us BEFORE we know that we cannot believe ANYTHING that they tell us?

These leftists are determined to make our country into a Marxist ‘utopia,’ and we Republicans/Conservatives naively just walk around like we unknowingly have a giant ‘kick me’ sign taped to our back! I don’t know about you, but I have had enough of this leftist ‘shtick.’ Maybe YOU want to be forever identified with the old Looney Tunes animated cartoon character, Wiley Coyote, but not me! I myself am ready to vote against every candidate running for public office for anything who is a Democrat! And don’t just sit at home and complain—get out and vote at the General Election this coming November!

Bumpus – I too am not going to vote for any candidate with a ‘D’ beside their name. BUT the problem we have in Tennessee politics is the candidate with an ‘R’ by their name is often nothing more than RINO. Just watch the state legislature in action. All talk and little do. We have to get involved well before the elections and get some true conservatives running again. That has begun happening at the county level in Sumner County but it has taken over 8 years to make a dent. Kentucky needs to dump McConnell. And McCarthy is going to be a terrible Speaker of the House even though he has pretty hair. God help us all.
