Tennessee U.S. Representative Andy Ogles Introduces Legislation That Would Expand Access to Firearms for Teachers

Tennessee U.S. Congressman Andy Ogles (R-TN-05) introduced the Teachers Empowered Against Classroom Harm (TEACH) Act on Friday.

Ogles’ bill would “expand access to firearms for educators to protect their classrooms” by “allowing teachers and school staff the option to participate in defensive training programs aimed at protecting schools and their children.”

The Tennessee congressman’s bill comes just one month after 28-year-old Audrey Elizabeth Hale shot her way into The Presbyterian Covenant School in Nashville on March 27 and killed three children and three adults.

“Right now, Education Secretary Cardona has a personal slush fund of over $27.5 million dollars – instead of using that money to advance the Left’s indoctrination campaign, we should work to ensure that our kids are safe from armed intruders,” Congressman Ogles said in a statement. “We will never be able to ban the intentions of evil people but we can allow responsible men and women of good will to equip themselves in order to stop bad actors in their tracks. This bill would help make our students, educators, and classrooms safer.”

Ogles’ bill is sponsored by U.S. Representatives Lauren Boebert (R-CO-03), Ronny Jackson (R-TX-13), Paul Gosar (R-AZ-04), Andy Biggs (R-AZ-05), Michael Cloud (R-TX-27), Troy Nehls (R-TX-22), Alex Mooney (R-WV-02), Barry Moore (R-AL-02), Mark Amodei (R-NV-02), Andrew Clyde (R-GA-09), and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA-14).

Gun Owners of America (GOA), a gun rights organization, endorsed Ogles’ TEACH Act.

GOA Director of Federal Affairs Aiden Johnston said, “GOA is proud to endorse this legislation from Rep. Ogles… There’s a reason that no school shooting has occurred at a school with armed teachers, and Rep. Ogles’ legislation will play a critical role in hardening schools by creating a pool of federal funds to train willing teachers and modernizing school firearms policies at a time where over half of the United States recognize Constitutional Carry.”

Thank you Representative Ogles for taking the steps to protect children, while our Governor refuses t o listen to the People in Tennessee. I can assure you, if Lee was not a Lame Duck, he wouldn’t be pushing Red Flag Laws.
This us a great 1st Step. When the House gets full control of the Federal Budget later this year, I hope top of your list is to Abolish the Corrupt Department of Education. That would also eliminate the Communist Teacher Union as a side Benefit.

As an experienced law enforcement professional, I’m sure that Andy knows what’s best….

Yes, and remember when the Republicans held the House, Senate, and White House while the Supreme Court was a conservative majority? Yet, we still have the Dept of Education. At least this is an effort to afford teachers with the right to carry, and potentially protect children, on school grounds. I applaud my Rep for his efforts – which, btw, are far better than the Governor’s Red Flag Law push.

Tennessee voters did GOOD when they sent Ogles to DC. The only answer to a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. Criminals do not follow the law. That is quite evident in every state that has strict gun laws. The only people that benefit from those laws are the criminals and statistic are clear on this.

Israel pretty much ended school shootings long ago with armed teachers and other staff. Our ruling class, wealthy elites and other venues, like NFL games have plenty of armed security, but NOT our children in schools. It’s quite obvious the ruling class wants it that way as a pretext for disarming us. That is KNOWN because in their so called proposed “assault weapons ban” legislation, they EXEMPT THEMSELVES and private armed security companies.

    Let that sink in.

Those who want to take from others what they have and keep for themselves are evil people. It’s what criminals and tyrants do. And it’s a historical fact that ONLY YOUR ENEMY WANTS YOU DISARMED—ALWAYS!

Sorry. It’s not a good day for conservatives when conservative legislators introduce FEDERAL legislation governing our schools. Remember? We want to eliminate the Dept. of Education because we find federal interference regarding the running of our schools so repugnant. Now our most conservative representatives in the House are introducing federal legislation providing for federal interference regarding the running of our schools. It’s simply too depressing.

Let’s just say that teachers might have handguns.

If a shooter thinks that teachers might have guns, it just might be a deterrent to someone going into a school and shooting children.
