Tennessee U.S. Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN) traveled to the U.S.-Mexico border on Tuesday with Tennessee sheriffs and mayors to meet with law enforcement and property owners.
I’m back at the southern border with a group of TN sheriffs and mayors. The devastation and destruction that we have seen here is unbelievable—and far worse than when we were here nearly two years ago. This has got to come to an end. pic.twitter.com/iKW6sKufgX

“I’m back at the southern border here in Texas,” Hagerty said in a video message posted to X. “We’re just in the outskirts of Eagle Pass right now. I brought another delegation of sheriffs and mayors and law enforcement from Tennessee just like I did two years ago. What we’re seeing is even worse than it was two year ago.”
“The devastation and the destruction here at the border has been unbelievable. The stories that we’re hearing from ranchers here – they can’t maintain a livelihood, they can’t run any cattle. The livelihoods are being destroyed as people’s lives are also being destroyed. This has got to come to an end,” Hagerty added.

Hagerty and the delegation met with Kinney County Sheriff Brad Coe, who issued the warning, “What we see today, the rest of the country will see tomorrow,” according to the Tennessee senator.
The delegation also met with a rancher, Martin Wall, who owns property along the border.
“Martin Wall’s ranch in Eagle Pass has been in his family for generations, but ever since Biden came into office, he can’t even raise cattle on his property anymore because migrants continually cut through his fencing and the Biden Admin refuses to stop it,” Hagerty wrote in another post to X.
Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs, who was part of the delegation, said it was an “eye-opening trip,” adding, “Seeing it firsthand made it even more clear – the failed policies of the Biden Administration have caused a crisis at the southern border.”

Hagerty’s trip to the border comes a week after he voted against a $95.34 billion aid package for Ukraine, Taiwan, and Israel, as he argued the bill fails to address the “most urgent national security crisis facing our country – our collapsed southern border and the invasion of illegal immigrants that Joe Biden has precipitated there.”
“This national security bill should require Joe Biden to secure our nation before sending billions of US taxpayer dollars overseas,” Hagerty said at the time. “By missing that opportunity today, we’re allowing this enormous self-inflicted national-security crisis to persist, & that is a tragic mistake.”
