The Memphis Police Department this weekend reported shootings that injured six people as well as additional shootings that killed four people.
On top of that, Memphis Police also reported that one person in the city used his vehicle to intentionally run over and kill another person.
This, according to the police department’s Twitter page Saturday and Sunday.
Officers reported shooting deaths this past weekend at separate incidents on Olive Avenue, Whitefox Street, Boyd Street, and Eastwind Drive.
Memphis Police reported Saturday that they had arrested Mario Harlan, 24, and charged him with first degree murder, apparently for the killing on Olive Street. Police did not list Harlan’s city of residence.
Police also reported shootings at Third Street and G.E. Patterson Avenue, Given Street and North Holmes Street, Beaver Trail, East Raines Road, Millbranch Road, and another one at Raines Road and Weaver Road. In all of those cases the victims survived.
Memphis officials also reported that a known suspect allegedly ran over someone near Janice Circle.
“Preliminary information – an unresponsive male was located lying on the sidewalk,” Memphis Police reported.
“He was transported to Baptist East in critical condition where he later died.”
The suspect was in a 2009 or 2010 Ford Expedition when he intentionally ran over the victim, Memphis Police said.
Police did not identify the suspect.
As The Tennessee Star reported last week, federal officials late last week announced an initiative, Operation Legend, to fight violent crime in Memphis and St. Louis.
In Memphis, the U.S. Department of Justice will supplement state and local law enforcement agencies by sending 16 federal investigators to the city on temporary assignment for 90 days. This, followed by 24 permanent agent assignments from the FBI, DEA, ATF, and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).
“Under the leadership of Michael Dunavant, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee, these investigators will complement the work already underway by existing joint federal, state and local task forces focused on combating violent gangs, gun crime, and drug trafficking organizations,” according to a press release from the U.S. Department of Justice.

another democrat controlled city. what you expect.
No one can change the culture of crime in Memphis except the people that live there. You have a situation that is out of control, the local government officials that are suppose to be in charge cannot and will not correct the problem. Its not more money that is needed, its the culture. It is what it is. Sad to say but, try to avoid Memphis and if you have to go to be very careful. It is not a safe city to visit any more.
Very sad! But it was just a matter of time before the Left realized that they needed to stir the pot in Memphis. It’s also why they had to try and take down Representative DeBerry!
Sure will be interesting to see how Memphis and Tennessee leaders react. It will tell you if they really believe that black lives matter, or not. We’ll be praying for you, cause most of us honkies do!
Let the town burn to the ground. The rich liberals of the suburb, Cordova, and the rest of the city’s population keep voting Democrat. Wall off the city so no one escapes and let them reap the repercussions.
This has got the makings of a blockbuster movie…Escape from…… darn, it’s already been done.
