Walmart to Require Face Masks for All Customers

by Andrew Trunksy

Walmart will require all customers to wear face coverings inside its stores beginning July 20, the company announced Wednesday.

“As the number of confirmed cases has spiked in communities across the country recently, so have the number and types of face covering mandates being implemented,” the retailer said in a press release.

“To help bring consistency across stores and clubs, we will require all shoppers to wear a face covering starting Monday, July 20.”

Walmart’s mask requirement exceeds the guidelines set by the Centers for Disease Control, which encourages everyone to “wear a cloth face cover when they have to go out in public,” but has not implemented a compulsory federal mask mandate.

Walmart’s mandate comes as 37 states have reported an increasing number of positive coronavirus cases, according to a Johns Hopkins University database. More than 3.3 million Americans have tested positive for the virus, and over 136,000 have died.

The retailer’s new mandate follows similar policies from companies including Starbucks, Best Buy and Costco, who mandated masks as early as May, CNN reported.

Mask-wearing has become an increasingly hot-button issue across the United States, as some retailers have been reluctant to enforce the measure over fears of driving away shoppers who refuse to wear them, according to CNN.

Multiple confrontations have arisen in the U.S. between retail employees and customers not wearing masks. In Flint, Michigan, a security guard was fatally shot after insisting a customer wear one, according to The New York Times.

Both the Retail Leaders Industry Association and the United Food and Commercial Workers’ Union have called on governors across the country to adopt statewide mask mandates, according to CNN.

I wanted 3 things specifically. I checked my local WalMart because those 3 things were quite a bit cheaper than other local stores AND I could get all 3 items in one place.
I pulled up WM website, the specific store and checked. All 3 showing In Stock. I was at the store within 15 mins and THEN the ordeal began. A huge SuperCenter and only ONE door open–on a Tuesday at 10:30am. So first I had to walk a block from one end to the open door, THEN you get in line, even if there is no line. Finally get into the door, get a cart and go to the specific aisles where WM.com is telling me the items are located. Get to first location, item not found. Go in search of a WM employee–finally find one, he looks. He goes to back, he radios person in charge of that area, etc–nope, all out. Havent been able to get that item in weeks.
Go to 2nd and 3rd locations and SAME THING. No product even though it was showing In Stock.
I’m done, I wont be back. Too unnecessarily complicated (thanks MiniCooper) to even shop anymore.

  2. Walmart Is spelled “STUPID”

Instead of boycotting Goya Food we should be boycotting WAL-MART. Here a thought if you wear a Mask in the store and it said on the front I got COVID-19 because you meet the mask requirement they are required to let you in.

If masks worked we would see the numbers trending down in liberal areas that have had them mandatory for awhile now. Also, they are inflating the numbers. Trump has asked for testing numbers to be sent to the federal government first instead of the CDC who never questioned why testing sites had 100% positive cases and no negative cases (300 of these sites were identified in FL which is also a battleground state). The left is saying that Trump wants the numbers sent to him so he can fudge the data and open things prematurely.

Why can OSHA require a person to “be medically cleared and fit tested” before wearing respiratory protection, yet Walmart can just mandate it? Is Walmart and every other employer, including the Governments, who requires employees to wear respiratory protection providing all of the OSHA required training, testing and record keeping?

Why will OSHA shut down and fine a job site if workers are wearing “bandanas” or “cloth face covers” without the required medical clearance, fit testing and record keeping, yet allow people to wear them for Covid-19 protection?

I guarantee that no employers, including the Government, are performing the required level of testing and monitoring to require respiratory protection! It costs a bunch of money and manpower to implement that kind of program. This is BS!

    Socialism has come to America!

First, selected “essential” operations like the “big box” stores are allowed to stay open, but small ones are not. Then those “selected” operations mandate compliance to a fictitious “safety” panacea. “Someone wearing an N95 mask for a prolonged period of time may have alterations in their blood chemistry that could lead to changes in level of consciousness if severe,” said infectious disease expert Amesh Adalja, M.D., of Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security in Maryland.

    BOYCOTT Walmart!
