Ohio Republican Secretary of State and candidate for U.S. Senate Frank LaRose announced on Wednesday he obtained endorsements from over 150 conservative leaders across Ohio in his campaign to unseat Ohio Democratic U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) in 2024.
According to a press release e-mailed to reporters, LaRose’s vast group of supporters represent a diverse background of local GOP leadership, from mayors, county officeholders, and state legislators to county Republican Party chairs and members of state and county GOP leadership committees.
According to LaRose, he is honored and humbled by his many supporters endorsing his run for U.S. Senate.
“There’s one thing money can’t buy in Ohio politics, and that’s a battle-tested, grassroots organization that’s been proven successful in four statewide elections. I learned in the Army the success of any mission often depends on the team you take with you into battle. Many of these great Ohioans have had my back for years, and I’m honored and humbled to have them with me again in this mission. We’re fired up and ready to retire Sherrod Brown and take back control of our United States Senate,” LaRose said.
LaRose announced his campaign to unseat Brown in July, saying he is on a mission to give back to the state who has given him so much and to continue to serve the county he loves. LaRose is the only candidate seeking the Republican primary nomination who’s run and won four statewide elections, two primaries, and two general election contests.
As previously reported by The Ohio Star, recent polling has also shown LaRose as the strong leader in the Republican primary field.
Republican State Senator Matt Dolan (R-Chagrin Falls), who finished third in last year’s primary election, also announced his candidacy for U.S. Senate in 2024. Ohio Republican businessman Bernie Moreno is also running.
According to State Representative Josh Williams (R-Sylvania), LaRose has what it takes to take on the Democrat’s agenda.
“As dangerous ideology continues to creep into our schools, we need a fighter to protect our children from a radical agenda. As a father of school-aged girls, Frank LaRose understands what we’re up against and has the courage to take on the liberal agenda,” Williams said.
Mahoning County Republican Party Chair Tom McCabe said, “Frank is the fighter we need as our next U.S. Senator.”
Ohio Republican Party State Central Committee Member Bonnie Ward said LaRose is the one who will protect the unborn in the U.S. Senate.
“With a 100 percent pro-life voting record and guided by faith, Frank LaRose is the warrior we need in the U.S. Senate to protect the sanctity of life and protect the unborn and our future generations,” Ward said.
State Representative Mike Loychik (R-Bazetta) said, “He is proud to endorse him (LaRose) for the U.S. Senate.”
Ohio Republican Party State Central Committee Member Greg Simpson said LaRose is the only candidate to beat Brown.
“Frank LaRose is the only candidate positioned to beat Sherrod Brown and continue President Trump’s agenda to make America great again,” Simpson said.
Since Ohio has shifted to the right in statewide and federal races since 2016, Brown is one of the more vulnerable Senate Democrats in the 2024 cycle.
