Tennessee U.S. Rep. Tim Burchett Travels to the Southern Border, Says CBP Agents are ‘Out-Gunned, Out-Manned’

Tennessee U.S. Congressman Tim Burchett (R-TN-02), along with Representatives Andy Biggs (R-AZ-05) and Eric Burlison (R-MO-07), arrived at the U.S.-Mexico border in Texas on Sunday night and claimed the situation is “worse than anything you see on the news.”

Burchett added that President Joe Biden and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas “have a massive problem on their hands and they’re passing it off to every American in every town.”

“CLOSE THE BORDER,” Burchett demanded.

Standing on the banks of the Rio Grande in Eagle Pass on Monday, freshman Rep. Burlison called the situation unfolding at the border “eye-opening” and “crazy to see firsthand.”

During their visit to the Lone Star State’s border with Mexico, the three members of congress also traveled to Del Rio where they ran an operation with the Texas National Guard and the Texas State Highway Patrol where they witnessed agents using drone technology to track a group of migrants crossing the border illegally.

Congressman Biggs explained that the group consisted of eight adult men and two children, presumably aged five or six years old.

“This is something that happens nightly and regularly in this area,” Biggs stated.

On Twitter, Burchett also replied to a report from The Tennessee Star which detailed how smugglers are also using drones to spy on border patrol agents along the U.S.-Mexico Border between San Diego and Tijuana, saying, “Our agents are out-gunned, manned and yes out-droned.”

Last month alone, the Del Rio sector of the U.S.-Mexico border – which includes the area of Eagle Pass – apprehended 23,978 migrants and recorded 14,194 known gotaways. In total, more than 205,000 migrants were apprehended or reported as gotaways during the month of February.

There has been a minimum of 150,000 apprehensions per month of migrants crossing into the U.S. illegally since President Biden took office, with some months, such as last November and December, totaling over 300,000.

TCA 39-17-114 was passed in 2007; Burchett (R) was the Senate sponsor and Mike Turner (D) was the House sponsor. Rob Briley (D) offered the amendment for the religious organizations and the amendment was voted to be added. You can watch the video of the House proceeding. There was a bill this year that looked that it was going to remove this exemption from the law but it appears it is not going to go forward.

    You got that right.

What law & when was it passed. I’d be curious to know.

Does Burchett remember that when he was a state senator he passed a Tennessee law that says it is okay for religious organizations and common carriers to transport illegal aliens into Tennessee?Look at all the other Tennessee state Republicans who claim they are against illegal immigration but then support bills that make it easier for illegal aliens to work in Tennessee. These people just aren’t credible.
