34 Percent of Tennessee Voters More Likely to Vote for Trump After Guilty Verdict in New York Case

According to a poll from the Tennessee-based Beacon Center shows that support for former President Donald Trump has risen for his 2024 reelection bid after he was convicted of 34 felonies for falsifying documents in New York.

Trump was convicted on May 30.

The poll shows that 34 percent of Tennesseans surveyed are now more likely to vote for Trump in November. Forty percent said the conviction has no bearing on their vote, while 22 percent said they are less likely to vote for Trump after the conviction.

The poll sampled 976 likely voters during July and has a 2.77 percent margin of error.

“The numbers on Trump’s guilty conviction are fascinating and in some ways counterintuitive,” Beacon Center spokesman Mark Cunningham said. “A substantial percentage of Tennesseans believe that the charges were political but also believe he did commit a felony. While some voters who say they are more likely to vote for Trump after the conviction were already Trump voters, it’s clear that Trump did gain a number of voters since the last poll, with the lion’s share defecting from Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.”

In other key poll findings, 58 percent of Tennesseans said they would vote for Trump if the election took place today, while 38 percent said they wouldn’t. Only five percent of voters would vote for Kennedy.

Another July poll of 554 likely Trump voters found that they believe he should choose former Governor of South Carolina and United States Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley as his running mate.

Haley, who earned 13 percent of that vote, is ahead of other contenders Vivek Ramaswamy, another former primary challenger to Trump, and Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R-AR), who clocked in at 9 percent each.

Honorable mentions in the category include Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), a main contender against Trump in the 2016 Republican primary election, at 8 percent, and Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH),  who garnered 7 percent.

Trump is expected to announce his choice for Vice President imminently.

The poll also showed that Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) has extended her lead against far-left State Representative Gloria Johnson (D-Knoxville) from 11 points in May to 20 points. She also leads a second Democratic Primary challenger, Marquita Bradshaw, by 21 points. Blackburn has the support of 52 percent of Tennesseans.

President Trump has always been the spokesman for the common man. Since the BS convictions he has become the poster child for those who have suffered government oppression.
