A new advertisement released by the Arizona Republican Party (AZGOP) highlights both the alleged inaction by Representative Ruben Gallego (D-AZ-03) at the southern border and the support U.S. Senate candidate expressed for providing funding Ukraine.
The AZGOP wrote in a post to the social media platform X that Gallego may claim “he cares about the safety of Arizonans, but his actions speak louder than his words.”
Their ad superimposes imagery of Gallego in Washington, D.C., including video of the Democrat waving a Ukraine flag after the U.S. House passed legislation to prove $95 billion in foreign aid, as Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL-19) argued the bill was a product of congressional deal making.
“Ruben Gallego and the radical left continue to put America last and turn their back on securing our border,” a narrator for the AZGOP ad declared. “Don’t let Radical Ruben compromise your safety and sell out Arizona.”

The ad comes amid polling averages that show Republican front runner Kari Lake slightly behind Gallego in the U.S. Senate race, with Real Clear Polling reporting the Democrat currently enjoying about a six-point lead.
It also comes as priorities shift within the Copper State, as Democratic voters are reportedly energized by the recent Arizona Supreme Court ruling that enacted a law that bans most abortions in the state.
Arizona Republicans, meanwhile, reportedly remain most concerned about the effects of illegal immigration and inflation in the state.
While the Arizona House of Representatives recently approved a repeal of the controversial, 19th century abortion law, Gallego previously broke with other Arizona Democrats and said lawmakers should not move forward with the repeal.
According to Gallego, “Any initiative they pass right now wouldn’t even take effect for quite a while,” meaning voters would be better served by waiting for an abortion referendum.
Gallego previously pledged to back a federal law enshrining the abortion protections previously afforded under Roe v. Wade.
Previous ads referencing Gallego, which were released by the influential National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), focused on Gallego’s 2017 divorce. The split was announced just days before Christmas in 2016, and when his former spouse was nine months pregnant with their unborn son.
