Dave McCormick Campaign Declares Kamala Harris ‘Most Liberal Presidential Nominee’ in History as Sen. Bob Casey Offers Endorsement

The political campaign of Republican U.S. Senate nominee Dave McCormick branded Vice President Kamala Harris the “most liberal presidential nominee” in the country’s history on Monday following the endorsement Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) offered her after President Joe Biden dropped his reelection bid.

Casey endorsed Harris in a Sunday statement posted to social media, shortly after Biden’s decision to withdraw, declaring the vice president is “prepared” to serve and “the best person to meet this moment.”

In response, McCormick posted a new advertisement on Tuesday to the social media platform X, in which he wrote that Casey “just endorsed the most liberal nominee in U.S. history.”

The same day, the McCormick campaign said in a statement, “Harris is left of left-wing, and Casey is now all in on her radical agenda that is deeply out of step with the needs of Pennsylvanians.

In the statement, the McCormick campaign also included moments from Harris’ 2020 campaign when she was named the most liberal senator, confirmed she would end the Senate filibuster in order to pass the Green New Deal, stated her desire to “transition” Pennsylvania’s energy production to renewable sources, and declared she is “in favor of banning fracking.”

Also, during her 2020 presidential bid, Harris signaled she was in favor of “decriminalizing” illegal immigration into the United States and promised to “reimagine public safety” with less emphasis on police officers.

A second Wednesday memo from the McCormick campaign declared both Harris and her advocacy for “San Francisco liberal policies” will prove “a toxic brand on Pennsylvania Democrats, including weak Bob Casey.”

That memo claimed that Casey and Harris voted alike 98 percent of the time when they were colleagues in the U.S. Senate. After Harris became the vice president and began presiding over the Senate, the memo declared Casey voted in 100 percent alignment with her preferences.

While McCormick warns voters of Harris’ policy positions, the vice president may have a plan to shore up Democratic support in Pennsylvania.

On Tuesday it was reported that Harris is already narrowing her options for a vice president to complete her ticket, with both Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapriro and U.S. Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ) of Arizona being considered for the job.

Analysts suggested Shapiro could prove vital in winning Pennsylvania, where he is in his first term as governor. However, his support for Israel sparked opposition from a Michigan-based group that opposes Biden’s handling of the war between Hamas and Israel in Gaza.

Similarly, while Kelly could help win the battleground state of Arizona, labor leaders expressed concerns about his lack of commitment to pro-union legislation.
