Dave McCormick Slams Bob Casey for ‘Lying to Pennsylvanians’ About Joe Biden’s Fitness, Drops Ad Highlighting Senator’s Friendship with President

Following the poor debate performance by President Joe Biden last Thursday, Pennsylvania U.S. Senate nominee Dave McCormick accused Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) of “lying to Pennsylvanians” about the mental and physical fitness of President Joe Biden on Friday and released a new advertisement highlighting their purported friendship on Sunday.

Bob Casey has been protecting Joe Biden for years and lying to Pennsylvanians about his ability to serve as Commander-in-Chief,” wrote McCormick in a Friday post to the social media platform X.

McCormick cited his remarks to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, which reported that “Casey and his campaign remained noticeably silent on Friday,” the day after Biden’s debate.

“I don’t know how you could sit there – forget party – as an American and watch President Biden’s performance and not be deeply troubled. It was very sad… Every American is trying to make sense of that, Senator Casey needs to say whether he thinks President Biden’s the guy to lead America into the future.”

McCormick also stressed Casey’s purported friendship with Biden to the outlet, reportedly crossing two of his fingers and telling the Post-Gazette, “Senator Casey and President Biden are like this.”

The Republican also highlighted the close relationship between Casey and Biden in an advertisement the McCormick campaign released Sunday.

McCormick’s ad combines video of news pundits describe the Democratic response to Biden’s debate performance as a “panic” with clips of Casey previously declaring Biden is “prepared to do this job.”

“People are going to see it in the campaign,” said Casey in the clipped audio. “No question he is prepared to do this job today and would be were he reelected.”

The ad also includes clips of Biden referred to Casey as “one of my best buddies” and “one of my closest friends.”

McCormick’s latest statement and campaign ad come after he suggested White House officials consider whether they have the “responsibility” to remove Biden from office using the 25th Amendment.

“Our founders, our forefathers had some vision on this. They had something called the 25th Amendment.” McCormick explained, “If the people around the president think he is not capable of fulfilling his responsibilities in a time of war… then they have a responsibility to acknowledge that and possibly replace the president.”

The president’s poor debate performance sparked calls from Democrats and the media to replace Biden as the party’s nominee, and a poll found 63 percent of voters who watched the debate would like to see the Democratic Party run another candidate.

According to the pollsters, the sentiment is shared by 50 percent of Democrats, 62 percent of independents and 75 percent of Republicans.
