Dave McCormick Slams Sen. Bob Casey over Votes for ‘Every Bill’ Driving Higher Prices After ‘Greedflation’ DNC Speech

Republican U.S. Senate nominee Dave McCormick issued a statement on Thursday, “slamming” Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) for his Democratic National Convention (DNC) speech that pinned the blame for higher prices on “greedflation,” with McCormick accusing the Democrat of voting for policies that were actually behind price hikes.

“Weak career politician Bob Casey voted for every bill that is driving higher prices, enabling open borders and the flood of fentanyl, crushing Pennsylvania’s energy sector, and encouraging violent crime,” said McCormick in a statement posted to the social media platform X.

McCormick stated, “This November, Pennsylvanians will retire Bob Casey because our commonwealth cannot afford four more years of the dangerously liberal Biden-Harris-Casey agenda.”

In his short, Thursday speech, Casey responded to voters’ questions about prices.

“In just six months, a box of diapers went up $15,” said Casey. He claimed, “The corporations say your prices are up only because their costs are up. They’re selling you a lie. It’s in the bag with the diapers. Prices are up because these corporations are scheming to drive them up.”

The Democrat labeled the behavior “greedflation” and claimed he and Vice President Kamala Harris were both longtime opponents to the practice.

“Finally we’re starting to win,” said Casey.

The McCormick campaign also noted that Casey’s speech was fact checked by CNN in a second post to X.

“The Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco found that corporate price gouging was not necessarily a primary catalyst of the inflation surge of 2021 and 2022,” the cable news network reported in its correction of the claims advanced by Casey.

At his own speech before the Republican National Convention (RNC) last month, McCormick said voters in November will choose between America’s “greatness or its sad, disgraceful decline.”

McCormick’s speech took place only days after Trump survived a July 13 assassination attempt that occurred while the Republican candidate for Senate was just feet away.

“I witnessed from a literal front row seat in Butler, President Trump’s remarkable strength and resolve in a terrifying and unpredictable moment,” the senate candidate said.

McCormick added, “The president rose brilliantly to the challenge.”

The Republican remains 7.6 percent behind in the RealClearPolling aggregate of surveys for the Pennsylvania Senate race, but an August 17 poll conducted by Rasmussen Reports found Casey with just a 3 percent lead over the former Trump administration official. The same survey found former President Donald Trump with a slim lead over Vice President Kamala Harris in a head-to-head contest.
